WASHINGTON -- Virginia Sen.-elect Jim Webb said President Bush is a "failed president" who should use his last two years in office to repair America's image abroad by ending the Iraq war through intensive diplomacy.
In an interview Tuesday with the Daily Press, Virginia's newly elected Democratic senator made clear his antipathy toward Bush and his determination to help set a new course in Iraq

Thanks, Virginia.
The favorite Lib words are, "Slam" or "Blast" as shown here; "Webb Blasts" They say that even when its just a "Pop Pop" of a few grains of popcorn. In this case as most, it is just another popgun.
He is just entangling himself in his own web.
He already has. He is a failure before he has even started his term.
Is he going to continue getting all his speeches off of the Democratic Underground?
He won the election; he can afford to hire a professional staff to prepare his future pronouncements. He doesn't need to rely on the New York Times anymore for his talking points. He can get first hand intelligence -- and thereby, sound intelligent.
Hold on to your wallets!
Thanks for the ping.
Webb looks and sounds like Larry Flynt -- a dirty old RAT ba$tard.
"The US is now a country primarily made of up pacifists and socialists."
Yep, I am afraid you are right.
I hope the son said: "Why can't you ever say a kind word to and about our President? He is our CINC and it might boost the morale of the troops on the ground"
I grieve for the State of Virginia.
Hardly.
Webb snookered the sheeple and Allen certain helped him by his own missteps.
But remember Webb barely won in Virginia on a night when Republicans were losing everywhere.
Baker gave Bush the best chance to salvage GOP chances in 2008. Nation building and mission creep are disasters for Bush. Two things he had warned against prior to being President - who changed his mind and made him lose his way?
Hey! Virginia has elected Karl Marx!
During the campaign, Webb often spoke about the growing divide between the rich and the poor, a divide he said risks tearing American society apart. He said Tuesday he hopes to begin addressing the problem through measures such as increasing the minimum wage and examining the fairness of corporate tax breaks.
What is causing the "growing divide" between the "rich" and the "poor?" A few decades ago, a "rich guy", (for example, a guy like Webb with a fancy law degree) was typically married to a stay-at-home wife. Today said "rich guy" is typically married to a woman who also has a fancy law degree and big income. Meanwhile, the poor are still mostly single-parent families. Result: the divide between the haves and have-nots has grown wider.
The Webbs appear to be a classic example of this phenomenon. You'd think Webb could figure out what is going on when it is right under his nose.
If he wants to narrow the divide, he'll have to introduce legislation requiring high-powered women to work less or not at all. (That should go over big with his wife.)
"...ending the Iraq war through intensive diplomacy."
Wow, how insightful! So, Senator Webb, we just drop a whole lotta diplomacy on 'em and this pesky li'l war just goes away? Gee, why didn't I think of that! Diplomacy has always worked so well in the Middle East!
Insipid soundbites don't win wars, Senator.
It's gonna be a looong six years with this guy.
He did have a tendency to quote Marx on the campaign trail.
Webb like Kerry has a "plan" for a new course in the Iraq war.
Quote: "This Webb punk is way too hot and will make himself look like a major jackass, very soon."
I too sense a Howard Dean moment coming. He seems to be out of step with what Virginia is supposed to represent. Then again, maybe VA doesn't represent that anymore.
And remember - Webb did not receive a majority of the votes; he got a plurality. More than 50% of Virginians DID NOT vote for Webb.
