Agreed - she also has a horrible voice - it is the proverbial finger nails on the chalk board.
Horrible voice - it matters.

..the President's comments about Mary Cheney were most unfortunate.
On this issue, I am afraid the camel's nose is getting further and further into the tent...

Just curious ~ in your memory, who had the most commanding voice? I would say Reagan, but he's my favorite ever, so I don't know if that's why I believe that.

He should go off on holiday, quite frankly. He needs a break and to come back refreshed.

"Oh please, no modern day Pres was going to make the ME glass after 9/11, and kill hundreds of thousands of Muslims who worship Allah, and declare a Holy war."
Fun fact. They makeup close to 1/4 of the entire world population and they are not just in the ME.

Listen - do you understand that Presidents rehearse speeches - they practice where they emphasize points - how to say things.
Bush rehearses State of the Unions speeches dozens of times before and audience that tells him where and when to "punch the line"
Today he is off tone.
You cannot possibly be this silly.
To: WalterSkinner
He avoided the trap with the Mary Cheney question.

Those are certainly valid points.
But what's even more telling is that the "it may still happen" scenario you presented would be the result of this administration's idiotic decision in the aftermath of 9/11 to topple one of the most secular, moderate governments in the Middle East at the time (the Ba'athist government in Iraq).
Some of us are still wondering why there was such a compelling need to invade Iraq -- while at the same time radical Islamic governments such as those in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc. were left unscathed (particularly in light of the fact that something like 16 of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi nationals). If that makes me a "troll" here on FreeRepublic, then so be it.

Agreed - he needs friends and family - and a few days.
Problem is that his problems never stop - 24/7.
Tough man - tough job.

My take: Our strategy was to win not by flooding the country with US military power, but by training up the Iraqi army and police. This has not worked. Good try, hasn't worked. Now it's time to do it ourselves because it has to be done.

Re: Speaking skills
People incorrectly equate speaking skills with intelligence. I know a lot of people who are glib, facile speakers (which is NOT to say that they have extensive vocabularies or a great command of the language or grammar) who are actually quite stupid. And I've known brilliant people who are not good speakers, particularly in front of a crowd. But some people can rattle off complete nonsense, complete idiocies, and do it with such a fluid facility, that people think they are smart.

That would work! Now there's a baritone.

I think you're the one who's being silly, but there's really no point in continuing this and taking the thread in this direction.
You've made your point about the President's 'tone.' You obviously think it's important, and that is your right.

Three of the 18 Providences have been turned over to the Iraqis to control.
Fourteen of the 18 are relatively peaceful and going forward as well as can be expected.

Bet he loved BJClinton. I guess delivery = substance to some, no matter how many subjects he's juggling in his mind, how complex and delicate the WOT situation, how offensive the question or questioner, and how tough the challenge. They have to be a mesmerizing speaker as well. Phooey on these puny, picky posters.
Thanks in advance
for all the bilge you're gonna handle on this thread .. and for ALL you do to keep FR the iconic conservative website it is.
