COLUMBUS, Ohio - It was the sort of commonplace misbehavior that raises blood pressure across the nation's roads: kids, out after midnight, egging cars along a busy thoroughfare.
This time, though, the mischief turned deadly. The driver of a targeted gray Jeep barreled after the boys and someone inside pulled a gun, firing multiple shots that killed 14-year-old Danny Crawford.
Police are still seeking the gunman more than two weeks after Crawford's death. They have interviewed the Jeep's owner but aren't saying if that person is a suspect.

Does anybody contend that that is what happened here? If not, your example is kinda irrelevant.
It's an egg! A regular chicken egg. Not an egg shaped rock. Not an ostrich egg. Not a frozen egg traveling at a thousand feet per second. It's an egg.
It's not going to blind anybody. It's not going to kill anybody. It's not going to obscure the windshield in any major way. It's an annoyance, not a mortal threat.
It's obnoxious. It's destructive. It's not a felony.

Your examples are way off subject. On threads like this, the fantasy tough guys say they would have done the same, shoot the 14 year old for throwing an egg at their car.
Guys that would really would do that, have a violent history to back that up, guys that are just lying when they display that kind of disregard for human life, should not make dishonest posts.
My guess is that many of these guys that tell us they would blow away any kid that threw eggs at their car, don't even carry a gun, or a fighting knife.
When the law finds the killer that has been on the run for weeks , I'll bet that his history will tell us that he is the type, to run down and kill a 14 year old that dissed him.

Now picture yourself driving down a dark street when it suddenly comes flying out of the darkness and smashes against your windshield. You suddenly can't see, the yoke is spread across a large area, the curvature of the windshield and the air it's self will help it to spread making that part of the windshield temporarily opaque. The white is clear but it will catch and reflect the what light there is making it very hard to see especially at night. Your windshield wipers will only help spread and smear it further. And you undoubtedly had a totally natural reaction to having something thrown at you, you flinched.
At that moment it is quite easy to lose control of your car.
It's an annoyance, not a mortal threat.
An out of control car often results in serious injury and even death.
Wrap it up any way you please it these young dumb twits could have easily killed some one.

I don't accept your premise. Tossing an egg, unexpectedly, at the windshield of a moving vehicle does create the risk that the driver could swerve or slam on the breaks. Either of those events could put the life of the driver (and passengers) in danger, thus meeting the statutory requirement.
I do think the occupants of the vehicle in this case overreacted. A good beating would have been appropriate given the provocation.
Since you have left off being logical, not that you did logic very well, and have moved to displaying your idiocy in public by attempting to hurl pitiful insults I shall leave you to it.
Do continue to defend dumb twits that put others in danger of life and limb. It is such a Conservative position.

Actually I thought it was common knowledge an egg can be considered a missile. Along with a snowball. Even non-packed!
Imagine for a minute this teen threw an egg at a car carrying a mom and two kids. As the egg splatters against the windshield, the startled mom swerves into a bridge abutment, killing herself and her two kids.
The egg was no more deadly when it hit the vehicle than when it was pulled out of the carton yet it resulted in the deaths of three people.
I'm not justifying what the guy did, just pointing out that the kids could have been charged with a felony too.
And so I just noticed that PAR35 said in a few sentences what took me a half a page ;)
A helpful hint for drivers out there. When a foreign object hits your windshield, do not swerve into bridge abutments or any other immovable object. If the road ahead of you was clear the second before the egg hit your windshield, it is quite probably clear in the half second it takes to say, "Whoa! What was that!".
In any case, shooting the kid who threw the egg is probably the wrong response.

I don't know how they could see through all that egg yoke, but they could see good enough to keep driving.
It will be interesting to find out what kind of men these guys on this thread are defending.
Actually, I think the shooter was really trying to shoot down further eggs coming his way, but had not completed his shooting course 101. Unfortunately, the thrower of the eggs got hit.
Lesson#1 for kids:
Never throw eggs at individuals who may not have completed gun handling 101.
Lesson#2 for kids:
If the individual you throw eggs at has completed gun handling 101, expect to at least get shot in the butt (after your eggs are all shot down).
