What nation is this?
7,100,000 cell phone subscribers - up from 1,400,000 only two years ago. This nation's leading cell phone company took in $333,000,000 in 2005, and is on track to take in $520,000,000 in 2006.
34,000 registered companies in the chamber of commerce - up from 8,000 two years ago.
GDP growth in 2005 was 17%, in 2006 13%. (We get jazzed when our GDP is 3-4%.)

China!
Iraq
We hae a winner!
It'd be really great if the economy was based on stuff we actually need. America today is the destination for the world's most wealthy to obtain first class medical care. Other than that, not sure how we are keeping it together. The Chinese will have copied every invention on the books and be making it at 25% of our cost in the next 5 years. Right now they are about 90% through the catalog.
Iraq's economy just keeps rolling along. The nice thing will be if it creates enough jobs to keep people busy working instead of blowing up things. It may also help the government take in revenues to start paying its troops better.
seeing cell phones as the number one driver for the economy is the height of irony. Don't cell phones make excellent detonation devices? There is nothing more ironic than seeing our technology used to kill us and be a prime driver for measuring success. Nothing more ironic I tell ya.
They said it's not our economy.
This falls into the "Never in a million years will it be reported in the Alphabet media" category.
It's great market for cellphones. The warranties don't cover use as an IED trigger, so there's always someone looking to buy a new one.
Iraq
Not bad for a quagmire. /sarc
None of that matters without a market to sell it all to.
If your doom-and-gloom hysteria is right, then when the US economy implodes, everybody else's will too.
Fortunately, America is a country populated with people who just do whatever is required whenever it is required, instead of whiny hand-wringers like you.
Bush's fault.
Iraq
Are you one those that measures an economy by how much is spent rather than what is produced?
China is currently ecomically purely capitalist. No overriding moral governs, no environmental standards or labor laws. In a sense the US in the industrial period. Our wages were low and we pretty much kicked Britain's butt. Eventually the environmentalist will step in, and the labor movement (as other countries start to condition the manufacture of products they import). We got the world by the short ones because you can't build it unless the US agrees to buy it. Maybe I am too optimistic.
But the media and the spineless members of the GOP tell us Iraq was better under Saddam!
