The Saudi Hate Campaign Backfires
The American Thinker ^ | 18 Dec 06 | James Lewis

For decades the Saudis have sent out money and missionaries to establish radical West-hating madrassas and mosques all over the world. Many American mosques are controlled by the Saudis, and Saudi-funded Muslim "civil rights" organizations peddle a carefully tailored PR campaign about Muslim victimization to the American sucker media. All this serves the Wahhabi creed, one of the most reactionary movements in Islam. One result of Saudi fundamentalism is Al Qaida, Bin Laden and 9/11.

Next month, during the giant annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, the Saudi campaign to radicalize the Muslim world may come back to bite it in its ample rear. Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims will travel in from Iran, according to Amir Taheri's Sunday article in the New York Post, and they may stage demonstrations

The Saudi's hate-Israel, hate-the-West campaign has developed a backlash.

But not in the USA.
Enough Americans bought into it to give power back to the children
in November's election and to elect the first (openly) Muslim Congressman.

That's not what the article is saying.

They're saying the Saudi's dished out a ton of money to create a bunch of radical Muslims. Per the article, these same radical Muslims may or may not be poised to overrun Saudi Arabia during the next Hajj. Read the article to see how they're connecting these dots, but they think Iran may try to stage a takover so they can get control of Mecca.

In other words, it's Saudi Arabia's fault that Iran is freakin nutts. So, ironically, the nutts over in Iran may attempt to take over Saudi Arabia during the next Hajj because at Hajj you have a large, uncontrollable mob that doesn't take much to incite to violence (as seen last year when they trampled a bunch of people).

It's already been done once. In 1979 a bunch of fundamentalist terrorists seized the Grand Mosque. Presumably, the Saudis have since put in better security measures.

Still, the basic point is well-taken. By funding radical wahabbist schools and mosques around the world, the Saudis may have sown the seeds of their own destruction.

Makes you wonder if the US (and by extension Israel) would get involved and who we'd side with. Personally, I'd see that as a perfect opportunity to launch and air and naval campaign against Iran, what with Iran being distracted with Iraq AND Saudi Arabia.

"That's not what the article is saying. "

Yes.
Hence I was noting the contrast between Saudi Arabia and the USA.
That is, that there doesn't seem to be a noticeable backlash here
in the USA.
At least not enough to keep the Wahhabists' best friends out of office.

I've always wondered what would happen if the Big Black Cube got nuked. I'm not exactly suggesting we should do it mind you (it would be objectively comparable to the destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas and we're better than the Islamo-extremists who did that), and certainly not during the Hajj when there are millions of people swarming around it. But really, what happens when the thing that every Muslim has a religious obligation to make a pilgrimage too at least once, just isn't there any more? It could get swallowed up by an earthquake, after all.

while I didn't originate the idea, one put forth on FR a couple of months ago was-upon sufficient provocation-airburst (at extreme altitude) a big nuke over, say Teheran at noon, followed by the warning that unless all terrorist activities stop, the next would be much lower. I like the idea---

I do believe that the only way to stop the hydra of Islamic terrorism is to strike at its head - obliterate it. Striking off an arm here or a foot there isn't going to get their attention.

Only real power will stop them - obliterate the head. Think about it - where is the head at this time? Teheran.

Why do we have a nuclear arsenal? Why have we spent billions on bomber aircraft? Why do we have all the military capability we have if we do not use it to safeguard ourselves and our allies? A military that is not used to good effect (which means not simply swatting at flies here and there) is more dangerous than not having a military.

A vacuum of power invites power to fill the vacuum.

Oblitering the head is the only way to slow and/or stop them.

I don't know how wide the EMP effect would be, but I suspect it might fry most of the electronics in a few nearby countries, including any of our own unshielded stuff in Iraq and Afghanistan. That could get some other folks mad at us.

Any FReeper with a working knowledge of EMP, sound off!

Sooner or later - the House of Saud and Saudi Arabia will have to be defeated to force them to cease suckling terrorists and financing the brainwashing and handcuffing of their population to the 7th century -- and their attempt to drag us into their lunacy.

It would be nice to see other Muslims do the job on Saudi Arabia and the House of Saud.

Ultimately -- they will all require being bled white - so any that can be done from within would help.

America should be blowing full speed ahead with OIL independence.....from the middle east. I'm one of those folks who believe it possible if only fewer of our politicians and "environmentalists" weren't owned by the Arab Oil barons and/or Communists.

Hey, I am all for Iran and its Shia allies and Saudi Arabia with the rest of the Sunnis going at it, full bore, to the last Saudi or Shia cleric standing. It would be a great blessing for the world.

I'd speculate that they would continue to make the pilgrimage to the place where it once was and circle around it seven times. Even if it's a big lake of glass.

--IIRC, the poster of the original thread was talking about 50000 ft one day, 40000 ft the next, etc.,until the desired result was achieved--(I'm not up to speed on EMP either--)

--maybe a small one would suffice--
