Yes, it may be true that Norway used to be a free country in which women were allowed to dress as they saw fit, secure in the knowledge that the laws and traditions of their open, enlightened culture would keep them safe from attack.

I guess I'm not very understanding of the norwegian culture, because I don't get it. If rapes are up that high, then unreported rapes are probably as high or higher. Which means there's a lot of raping and attempted raping going on in Norway. So what I don't get is why the murder and assault rates aren't up as well, with the "victims" being the would-be rapists, and also why the number of trials (which are usually covered by the media) aren't up, too.
