Black people in San Francisco are arrested for felonies at nearly twice the rate they are in Sacramento. They are arrested at twice the rate of black people in Fresno, three times the rate in San Jose, Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Diego, and four times the rate in Oakland.

While Fong said the arrest numbers merit review, she suggested that the disparity exists in part because the perception that sometimes San Francisco is "soft on crime" may draw criminals from out of the city who feel they can come here and "not be held accountable." Fong's staff said they hand-counted arrests made by the Tenderloin Task Force last year and found that more than 60 percent of the African Americans arrested were listed on booking cards as "no local" -- a term often applied to transients -- or gave addresses outside San Francisco.

"There's not a black person I know who doesn't see the police as an occupying force in the community. At the same time, though, I'm convinced that if black folks stopped blowing each other's brains out, they'd be in a much better position to deal with police issues."
********
Asked about whether it appears that police are targeting black people for arrest, Harris said: "Definitely not. There's no need to target the African American kids. They're the ones out on the streets selling the drugs."
IMO, the saddest, most perverse realization in this story is that the so called black leaders of the community don't want to help the community by admiting and dealing with the reality of the situation. They want to play the race card and make the problem worse. Every black person assaulted by another black ought to be outraged at their "leaders" for essentially wanting it to continue.
With friends like this......
You might as well write San Freakcisco off -- the radical liberalism that runs that dung heap won't permit and REALITY and continues to push racism as the cause of majority black crime.
Nothing new. Look across the country at every liberal-run, liberal-dominated dung heap, and you will see the same thing.
I nominate this quote for the "Stupidist Quote of The Year" awards....
The mere lack of intelligence to utter such stupidity causes my IQ drop 20 points just by reading it....
Can't say the Truth That Must Never Be Spoken, that certain people commit MORE CRIME than others.
"Jacqua, who has devoted his life to working with at-risk youths, added that many black youths come from "a population where there is virtually no middle class because the middle class people can't afford to live here, and many of these youngsters end up in the criminal justice system."

The middle-class can't afford to live in SF. I have been hearing that for a while. Only the very wealthy and the very poor... sounds like latin america.
Isn't SF still a nationwide magnet for bums and runaways due to generous benefits and indulgent treatment?
Gee, I'm sorry. I thought this was an NBA thread. Speaking of which who would like to join me in filing a class-action lawsuit against the NBA for failing to hire white basketball players?
Can you envision affirmative action for arrests like Title 9 for college sports? They would have to sweep the suburbs for crack dealers to justify arresting crack dealers in the city.
"There's not a black person I know who doesn't see the police as an occupying force in the community. At the same time, though, I'm convinced that if black folks stopped blowing each other's brains out, they'd be in a much better position to deal with police issues."
He is [IMO] making the point that this "bunker mentality" exists AND is self inflicted. i.e. they are doing it to themsleves. Nothing stupid about his statement. Both parts of it are 100% accurate.
The problems of San Francisco are't very high on my list of priorities. I never go there.
BTTT
If 99% of the folks arrested are found guilty as charged, it means one thing.
If 50% of the folks are found to be falsely arrested and the government is unable to prove the actual charges made in the arrest, (with out a plea bargain), then there is something wrong.
Oops, I meant to add that I think it is important to note (since I didn't) the source of that quote:
"Police Commissioner Marshall, who is African American"
Read the whole article. Although there is a lot of stupid denial on the part of the libs, the police and government are remarkably tough and not backing down on their side of it.
"Black people in San Francisco are arrested for felonies at nearly twice the rate they are in Sacramento. They are arrested at twice the rate of black people in Fresno, three times the rate in San Jose, Los Angeles, Long Beach and San Diego, and four times the rate in Oakland."
Okay, I'm black and I'm going to ask the question, are we (Blacks) doing twice the crime?
Oakland is across the bay from Frisco. It's the home of Kwanzaa and Ebonics... Do Oakland kids ride the metro to SF for a fun night out and get arrested? Isn't Oakland a big ghetto? Go Figure.
i dunno,
i am sure that somewheres on the net there are some statistics as to the make up and content of the penal system. go have a look and let us know.
I didn't know they even arrested people in San Francisco. I thought they just gave them a hug and "shared" stuff with them.
Another left-wing cesspit destined for oblivion..
SF mimmicks what the "liberals" want for America - the "elite" and the undereclass that requires a nanny state to be administered by the elitists.
I guess that your question could be, blacks are being arrested for possible criminal acts, but are the criminal acts being observed and the white people who might be arrested for the same acts being apprehended?
"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
