The Islamics ( and the ACLU) wish to tear up the roots of America. That is their key to taking over our culture.

"I reject cultural and artistic progress."
I don't reject cultural and artistic progress. I just disagree with what some CALL progress in those fields. Half the times it's regression.

It would be dangerous for our government to establish any one religion over others. Perhaps you would be in favor of getting rid of the national holiday known as Christmas.

I moved to Lynchburg, Virginia last year and have had young carolers knock on my door and serenade me. I thought that tradition had died long ago, but it lives on in conservative Christian areas (this is Falwell country). The next generation gives me hope for our country.

I've YET to see the US government try to establish a religion EVER. Is having a Christmas display ESTABLISHING a religion ? What's wrong with people these days ?

Once again, as always, Mark Steyn knocks the ball over the left field fence. In the bottom of the ninth. With the bases loaded. In the seventh game of the World Series.
Steyn is Mr. October as a columnist. And in politics, every month is a potential October, with its unknown surprises just around the corner.

But to do that is to turn society into a kind of greater airport departure lounge -- to say it's no more than an assemblage of whoever happens to be in it at any particular time. I thought this was an excellent point, and he really gets to the heart of what has been bothering me about this. I'm less worried about the attack on Christianity because it's been under attack since - well, since the first Christmas! - but this PC garbage is really an attack on our common culture here in the US. And what remains of our culture is, unfortunately, becoming increasingly fragile because of these attacks on it.
