Nanny and Senator's Grandchild Flee Masked Intruders in Silver Spring Home (Domenici, MD)

Masked intruders forced their way into the Silver Spring home of a U.S. senator's daughter yesterday morning, startling a nanny who ran outside with the lawmaker's 2-year-old granddaughter and left his youngest grandson behind.

A Montgomery County police SWAT team later found the baby safe in his crib.

Police think the incident was a burglary gone awry because the intruders apparently didn't realize the house was occupied.

The burglars approached the red-brick house on the 2400 block of Hayden Drive in Forest Glen about 9:30 a.m., police said. After hearing suspicious noises outside, the 42-year-old nanny opened the door.

"When they burst in, the nanny grabbed the little girl and left the child in the crib," police spokeswoman Cpl. Sonia Pruitt said.

The 1-year-old baby, Jimmy, is the youngest grandson of Sen. Pete V. Domenici, R-N.M.

The nanny ran to a neighbor's house to call police, who initially feared the incident could turn into a hostage situation. Domenici's daughter, Helen, called her father shortly after being notified of the situation. Neither she nor her husband was home during the incident.

"The senator was deeply concerned," said Steve Bell, Domenici's chief of staff.

Police, who would not comment on whether anything was taken from the house, think the burglars fled through the back door before authorities arrived. They remained at large last night.

That suit is the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time. Police teams not only have too much time on their hands, apparently too much MONEY for toys on their hands too.
And as for the nanny? No one takes care of your kids the way you will. No one loves them like you do.

Woudln't surprise me. Those who spoke out against Clinton in the 1990s had their cats killed, their tires slashed, and reports of their children's names and what they wore to school that day sent to them.

Be seeing you.

Remember folks.... This is PC Montgomery County Maryland..
The SAME county that hired and retained the totally inept, incompetent, affirmative action racist - CHIEF MOOSE...

The Montgomery County Police were once the most respected in the area -- I hope the clown in the Ghillie suit is a Silver Spring local cop...

Jeeeze the LEOs have far too much money and time to prepare for a potential hostage situation!

Poor guy, wonder if he was hoping to pull an FBI sniper stunt as pulled at Ruby Ridge and kill mother and child from cover..

No, then you'd find a murdered body dressed up to look like suicide (see the recent Adriane Shelly case).

The difference in this case is that clearly a man WAS involved. It comes down to what his motive was.

In the case of the senator in the hospital, the conspiracy was that he was sent there through some underhanded means rather than just ill health and longstanding birth defects.

"(Anyone know what that fringy cammo garment is?)"

A fool trying to disguise himself, or appear deadly and competent.

It's the perfect camouflage for a stalking field of concrete, asphalt, bricks, the interior of building, rooftops, dead vegetation, and the bare trees of winter.

>>Silver Spring, Maryland is a heavily urbanized DC inner suburb with about 250,000 residents. Yet this idiot is dressed like he's about to go through the jungles of Vietnam. Police snipers have way too much time on their hands, I guess.

Just happens this address backs onto a forested area, a ravine and a park with mostly deciduous trees, about 1 km square in area. I used to hike through it every day. Lot's of places to hunker. It really does help to know what you're talking about, AK.

Thanks for your insight on the suit. I would like to know why the WP felt it necessary to give the address of the house (hi-profile in this case).

This is absurd. A full SWAT callout for an interrupted burglary? With a sniper in a ghillie suit, of all things?

If this very same thing had happened in a fleabag apartment in Anacostia, I wonder if the police would have even sent a single patrolman by to take a report.
