Congress to double workload

US Democrats, who are set to take control of Congress next month, have outraged some of their colleagues by their decision to work five days a week, which will almost double their workload.

According to an announcement made by the next Democratic majority leader, Steny Hoyer, representatives will have to be present to vote Monday through Friday.

What's more, instead of waiting for the traditional State of the Union address by the president at the end of January to begin legislative work, the House of Representatives and the Senate will put themselves to work as early as January 4.

A Republican member of Congress immediately complained.

“Marriages suffer. The Democrats couldn't care less about families – that's what this says,” Congressman Jack Kingston told The Washington Post.

Since then, he has been the subject of ridicule.

“My wife just returned from a yearlong tour in Iraq,” wrote a reader of The Post. “Our marriage and family – we have two sons, ages two and three and a half – are stronger than ever.”

After gaining control of Congress by untiringly lambasting the “culture corruption” introduced by the Republican Party, Democrats have become impatient to display their determination to uphold “ethics.”

Yep, they like work but with little reward if any. When I worked for that a-hole manager at my last job, he didn't like anyone to take vacation unless you were him or his inner circle. Also, he always like scheduling in the late afternoon to make it more difficult to leave early.

The "work" they do will consist of confiscating peoples wealth to divide as spoils for their patrons, undermining the US around the world and pushing a diversity and gay agenda down the throats of the rest of us.

This is a unique thought. This means that they must have their *** in their soft leather high backed chairs to push a button, 'Yea' or 'Nay'. Humm? And to think we've been paying them to do that all these years.

Suppose their buddy comes along and pushes a button for them? Ah ha, caught you on tape. Throw that vote out. Unqualified vote. Voter fraud. Been down this road before too.

I had a few thoughts on reading that article, prairie.

#1. I'd like to know who the Republican is who said that marriages suffer when Congress has to work a five day work week. It sounds made up to me, and knowing the media, it probably is a phony statement.

If a Republican truly did say that, I'd like to know who it is because he deserves to have his hiney kicked from one end of the room to the other.

#2. While I agree wholeheartedly with Mo1 that the country is better off when Congress isn't meeting (this is why I rather like gridlock), I think it's absolutely shameful that legislators are paid as much as they are for working so few hours. However, it is worrisome what kind of mischief the Democrats will get into working longer hours :-)

I find amusing Republicans complain about how taxing its to work in Congress. It doesn't involve back-breaking physical labor!
