U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-CO) and 11 other Members of Congress today sent a letter to Secretarys Michael Chertoff (DHS) and Alberto Gonzales (AG) asking the two cabinet members to pressure foreign governments to accept deportable aliens from the United States.
As you know, dozens of nations around the world routinely refuse to accept their own nationals when the attempts to repatriate them to their country of origin, wrote Tancredo, member of the House International Relations Committee. As a result, these aliens are free to remain in the .
The letter notes that the Peoples Republic of has refused to accept approximately 40,000 of their nationals who are slated for deportation. The letter added that nations in Central Asia, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and Central America also refuse to cooperate with efforts to deport their nationals with excuses ranging from disagreements over asylum policy, to concerns about allowing criminals back into their communities. The outcome of which essentially forces to permit these aliens to remain in the indefinitely.
Media reports have also uncovered a case in Nashville where an Iranian national was convicted of shooting a man in a bar and was set free after immigration officials could not deport him to his home country. The man is currently walking the streets looking for a new job in the Music City .
Tancredo reminded the agency heads that they do have ample tools to prevent this practice. law calls for the administration to retaliate against nations who engage in this type of behavior by discontinuing the issuance of immigrant and non-immigrant visas to its nationals. He cited 8 U.S.C. 1253(d) in his letter, which states, "On being notified by the Attorney General that the government of a foreign country denies or unreasonably delays accepting an alien who is a citizen...of that country...the Secretary of State shall order consular officers in that foreign country to discontinue granting immigrant visas or nonimmigrant visas, or both, to citizens, ...of that country until the Attorney General notifies the Secretary that the country has accepted the alien."
Tancredo added, We hope that you will notify the Secretary of State about which countries are refusing to comply with our deportation requests, so that appropriate actions will be taken.

2. The real headline is: "11 Members of Congress Join Tancredo in Calling on Administration to Stand up to Foreign Governments Who Use America as a Dumping Ground for Criminal Aliens".
The headline was to long, so I had to edit it.
Propaganda from Congress critters websites is not NEWS.
What a waste is time!!!
Go bother someone else.

Not your post...but this "effort" by these guys...
Do you mean this is not really a serious issue and a symptom of very sick State and Justice Departments (noting that the State Department has been an unmitigated disaster for as long as I can remember and then some)?
And furthermore the nerve of these critters to expect this administration to stand up to foreign govts.
Cut off foreign aid to those who refuse.
Why would the Administration instruct the State Dept?
Isnt the State Dept. kind of an autonomus government within a government? I was under the impression that the Bush
Administration wanted to amnesty these folks. Kind of like
saying "We're ready for third world status", maybe if we
become more third worldish the terrorists will leave us alone.
Since when?
I think we could pay Mexico and the Central American countries to house non-US citizen criminals in prisons in those coutries for pennies on the dollar of what it costs to house them here. We could regularly monitor the conditions in those prisons and house prisoners where they receive proper treatment. (I would not send American prisoners, only illegals.) And while we are at it, it creates some jobs in those countries. Win, win, win.
Maybe we should just drop them in vinyl rafts, just outside the shore waters of their home countries if those countries refuse to take them back.
Only 11? ? ? ? ? ? ?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahahahaha ! ! ! ! ! ! !
And all the while existing law empowered our government to retaliate against those countries by stopping the issuance of all visas.
Freepers should also know who signed this letter:
Tom Tancredo(R) Mike McCaul(R) Bob Aderholt(R) Steve King(R) Phil Gingrey(R) Howard Coble(R) Lamar Smith(R) Virgil Goode(R) Dan Burton(R) Tom Price(R) Dana Rohrabacher(R) Ted Poe(R)Funny how they are all from one party - the very party some Freepers drove from House leadership to give the other party a chance to do something about the immigration problem. Where are the dems on this?
As for why some here took issue with this posted item, one can only conclude they don't want other Freepers to know any of the above.
Why is this a waste of time? Should they not say or do anything because you think Arbusto won't act on it? I applaud their effort, keep making noise.

I think you're on the wrong website.
