Prayer Request for a Dear Freeper [prayers needed for kayak - update in #1,145 ]
FRmail | 12-14-06 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 12/14/2006 7:50:21 PM PST by Brad’s Gramma

I received a FRmail tonight from Freeper kayak regarding a health issue that her doctors have discovered. Some of you, apparently, are already aware of this. I DO have her permission to put this thread up. She will not be on here to respond as she's still working and will be starting treatments.

Anyway, from kayak....Several weeks ago as part of my routine annual physical I had a chest x-ray. When it came back showing some suspicious shadows, the doc ordered a CT scan which also showed the shadows. So last week I had a bronchoscopy and got the results on Monday.

I have lung cancer. The good news is that of the 2 kinds I have the least aggressive kind and it can usually be removed surgically. The bad news is that because of the location of the cancer it can't be gotten to surgically without doing damage to parts I need.

So I'm facing a regimen of chemo and radiation probably. Monday I have an appointment with an oncologist to begin planning how we're going to attack this thing.

Please PLEASE pray for kayak!!!

Dear Lord God, our hearts are heavy tonight with this news from kayak. She is a dear lady who loves you with all of her heart. Thank you for giving her so VERY many prayer warriors, thank you for giving her a WONDERFUL husband who has been nothing but 100% supportive of her.

Lord, I pray for a "Logan Miracle". Lord, please heal her body. Please guide the medical personnel who will be helping her through this. Please give her YOUR peace. Peace that passes all understanding.

In Your Name,
Amen!

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I'm so sorry that all this has escaped my notice. Thank you for the ping MEG.

Kayak and Mr. Kayak, this news is not what I would hope to hear, but I know our Lord and I know what He can do, so I am sending up heavy duty prayers.

Lord, Kay is in the valley of trial now. Will you please go there and allow her to "see" you beside her. Let her know, sweet Jesus, that you can comfort and heal even in the worst of circumstances. Thank you, Lord, for all that you will do for our dear lady who has always looked out for us in our time of need. We praise you and trust your power, and we pray in your name, JESUS. Amen

I am kayak's daughter (Daughter #1, I think she calls me here). I'm hesitant to post, because this is Mama's space, and she has asked me to respect that space. Generally, I try to do just that. But last night Daddy said she had a bunch of FRiends praying for her, and I was feeling pretty awful, and I thought reading through and seeing what you all had to say about Mama, and to see your prayers for her, would comfort me. So I invaded her space, but it was not with malice, and I hope she'll forgive me for the intrusion. After this ordeal is over, I will go away and leave her to her space here, and go back to my own online haunts.

I just spoke with my brother, and they've taken Mama in for her surgery now. It's probably begun by now. The surgeon - one of the best, Daddy said - is confident that the surgery will be easy (as brain surgery goes). I think this surgery will take less time, actually, if all goes well, than my (completely routine) appendectomy did a couple of years ago. Which is astounding, because hello, BRAIN SURGERY. My brother said my dad is, naturally, very worried, but that both my parents remain in positive spirits about beating this beast, and about taking this first important step to stomp on my mom's cancer.

I don't know if Daddy will have a chance to update you all about what's going on with Mama. If he does, I'll step away and let him do all the talking, because he's actually with her (I'm long-distance as long as everything goes routinely). And if either he or Mama want me to step away from here, simply because it's my mom's place, I will. But if they don't mind my providing updates as I get them from my brother, I will try to do so as I know what's happening.

I did want to thank you all for wrapping my mom in your prayers, and for keeping her in your thoughts 24/7. It feels so good to know how loved she is here, though of course, I don't find that in the least surprising, because she's a really wonderful woman. Please keep your prayers going for her - I'm sure that's where she's drawn a lot of the strength that she has mustered for battling this terrible thing. It's crazy - she and my dad are more positive and strengthened at this point, going through what they're going through, than I am. I'm positive it's because of their great faith, and because they know so many, many people are nestling them in fervent and earnest prayer. Thank you all.

You're very welcome here, poppyseed, although I do understand about family 'space' in a forum. ;-)

Thanks for the updates on Kayak, please keep us informed as you learn how she's doing, allowing for privacy as you all desire, of course.

We're praying hard for your mom, she's a gem. :-)

Sorry, GirlChild. That's what she calls me here. Sorry, it's a stressful day and I'm pre-caffeine.

Thank you. I promise I'll retreat (I don't even usually read, per Mama's request) once this ordeal has passed. I don't belong here (I'm a liberal, for one thing, even if it wasn't Mama's space that she'd understandably like to keep for herself), but I was really, truly feeling terrible last night, and I needed some comfort. I found it, thanks to all your support and love and prayers for my mom.

And yes, if Mama or Daddy asks me to go away, I certainly will. I'm not trying to break any trusts or insinuate myself into a place that my mother holds very near and dear and that is a safe haven for her. But I did want to keep you all posted, because I know many of you are nearly as anxious as I am to know how things are going.

Thank you all again. Keep up the prayers. It's helping my mom's spirit, and I think that positive attitude will be a key to her healing.

:-)

Some of my best friends, and favorite family members are liberal. LOL

When someone needs prayer or other support, political labels don't matter, we're all just people.

I hope you found comfort on this thread. And I pray your mom is continuing to do well. :-)

Thank you for the update, poppyseed. Your Mother (and Father, to a lesser degree,, because I don't know him as well) are VERY dear friends of mine.

My husband and I had dinner with them last summer when we were passing thru the area.

I tried to call your Mother's room about a half hour ago and there was no answer. Every time I tried to call last night the line was busy. I am devastated that I was unable to reach her and offer my support. I wanted her to know I am with her in prayer. I've told her so on line, but I wanted her to hear my voice say it.

Your parents are wonderful Christian souls with a strong faith. I ask God's blessings on them and on the hands of Kay's surgeon.

Please let you Mom know that Iowa Granny continues to stand in prayer with her.
