Prayer Request for a Dear Freeper [prayers needed for kayak - update in #1,145 ]
FRmail | 12-14-06 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 12/14/2006 7:50:21 PM PST by Brad’s Gramma

I received a FRmail tonight from Freeper kayak regarding a health issue that her doctors have discovered. Some of you, apparently, are already aware of this. I DO have her permission to put this thread up. She will not be on here to respond as she's still working and will be starting treatments.

Anyway, from kayak....Several weeks ago as part of my routine annual physical I had a chest x-ray. When it came back showing some suspicious shadows, the doc ordered a CT scan which also showed the shadows. So last week I had a bronchoscopy and got the results on Monday.

I have lung cancer. The good news is that of the 2 kinds I have the least aggressive kind and it can usually be removed surgically. The bad news is that because of the location of the cancer it can't be gotten to surgically without doing damage to parts I need.

So I'm facing a regimen of chemo and radiation probably. Monday I have an appointment with an oncologist to begin planning how we're going to attack this thing.

Please PLEASE pray for kayak!!!

Dear Lord God, our hearts are heavy tonight with this news from kayak. She is a dear lady who loves you with all of her heart. Thank you for giving her so VERY many prayer warriors, thank you for giving her a WONDERFUL husband who has been nothing but 100% supportive of her.

Lord, I pray for a "Logan Miracle". Lord, please heal her body. Please guide the medical personnel who will be helping her through this. Please give her YOUR peace. Peace that passes all understanding.

In Your Name,
Amen!

So much has happened since my last message to you all. My whole family came down this past weekend, and my brother came as well. The difference between Mama the weekend before and then this weekend was like night and day. By this past weekend, she had begun letting go, and was more or less staying in bed, much, much weaker and frailer than the weekend before, when she was weak but present.

I stayed on after the weekend to be with Daddy and help out around the house, and to sit vigil by Mama. She was quiet, but sometimes responsive, and eating. This morning, though, her breathing changed, and she is in a near-comatose state and not really responsive at all. The Hospice nurse who came to see her this afternoon said that she is actively dying, and said that anytime in the next 24 hours, to the next two or three days, we can expect her to let go.

Yesterday, Daddy was hugging her, just loving on her the way he does, and she said, “You just won’t let me go, will you?” And he told her that absolutely he will let her go, and that anytime she’s ready to let go, she should.

I also told her that when she’s ready, she should go. I told her that we will take care of each other, and God will take care of us. “Are you ready to go?” I asked. “Go where?” she said. “Home,” I said. “Yes,” she said.

And after that business was taken care of, she began the process of letting go. She’s ready, and we’re as ready as we’ll ever be.

Please pray for her swift and peaceful passing into the next phase of life, and keep the rest of us in your prayers. We alternate - well, I alternate - between numb and inconsolable. It doesn’t even seem real right now. I’m sure it’ll hit me hard, harder, hardest later on.

She doesn’t seem to recognize us any more, so I won’t be passing on any messages to her. She seems to have heard all she needs to from those of us here in this world. She’s got her feet in two worlds, but she’s mostly elsewhere now.

I’m trying to keep myself busy, so I doubt I’ll be able to return individual responses to anyone anytime soon - apologies for that in advance. Thank you all for your love and your prayers. Take care, and I’ll let you know when she dies.

Love to all of you.

Sweetie, there are 2 things I know...

One is where your mother is going and it is to God's loving arms...

..the other thing I know, with all my heart, is how proud she is to have you for a daughter.

You have written us faithfully with loving words and gentle images.

You are a good daughter....and have done your mother proud.

God bless you hon....

..and may God ease your mother's passing to His kingdom.

My love to your dad and all your family.

If I can ever help you, you know my phone number.

Love you....love you very much, and I love Kay.

Poppy, I knew this day would come....I’m just not ready for it myself, either.

My prayers to your Mama for that peaceful passing from this life into the arms of her waiting Savior.

My prayers to all of you, that you are able to hang on, best you can, to each other...and to God.

You’ve been our shining light through all of this, Sweetie..your Mama’s proud of you. Never forget that. She told me so...

God bless you and your family, poppy, as this next chapter evolves. The angels are reaching for her hand .. she will be in the light of God soon. I pray the grief you’re feeling now and will feel will someday be partially replaced with loving remembrances and sweet memories of such a wonderful Mom.

She’s always loving you .. always and forever. May the peace and comfort of Our Dear Lord hover near you, your Dad and family.

Thanks for the ping,BG.

Passing from this life of pain and sadness to stand in the presence of The Almighty has been referrd to as perfect healing.

Prayer for comfort to all the family and friends.

If I may, the lyrics to a beautiful song of hope...

NO MORE NIGHT

The time is near :
earth and heaven will pass away.

It’s not a dream.
God will make all things new that day.
Gone is the curse from which I stumbled and fell.
Evil is banished to eternal hell.

No more night, no more pain !
No more tears...never crying again
All praises to the Great I AM
We will live in the Light of the Risen Lamb.

See all around, how the nations bow down to sing.
The only sound is the praises to Christ, our King.
Slowly the names from the book are read
But I know the King, so there’s no need to dread.

No more night, no more pain.
No more tears, never crying again !
All praises to the Great I AM
We will live in the Light of the Risen Lamb.

See over there, there’s a mansion prepared for me.
Where I can live with my Savior eternally.

No more night, no more pain !
No more tears, never crying again !
All praises to the Great I AM
We will live in the Light of the Risen Lamb.
We will live in the Light of the Risen Lamb !!!!

Thank you dear poppyseed for this message that had to 6e incredi6ly difficult to write. I haven’t written much on this thread 6ut I’ve continued to pray for your mom and your family.

In some ways it may seem more difficult that this result is 6eing unwrapped in layers and over time. 8ut I have found it was easier for me to handle layered grief and letting go, than to have to handle it all in one 6urst. You are all having time to adjust, just as your mom has had time.

I pray for peace that surges and stays from now until you don’t need this extra grace. I pray for angels to 6e with all of you in a6undance. I rejoice with your mother as she prepares to meet the One who loves her so much He gave His own life to have her with Him forever. God 6less you all.

This is the love of God - that a woman named Kay was sent into the world; that she lived with us, and loved us, and showed us the joy of Kay.

Thank you God, that you gave Kay to us. Thank you, Kay, that you gave love to your husband and life to your children; and thank you, Poppyseed, for sharing your mother’s bravery with us.

This is the way of God - that Love comes into the world in the shape of the people around us, and flies back Home on the wings of Angels...

We will miss you, Kay - that is why those who love you will follow you to the ends of the earth and all the way to Heaven’s gate. Do not be afraid of the journey home, for God goes with you, Kay.

If something so beatiful as you could come from where you go, then where you are going is beautiful indeed!
