They have to be pure socialists. I don't know any names, but I can certainly peg almost every story that comes down from Reuters.

The article is written as if history began in 2003. How many of these guys were "in" with Saddam's propaganda machine beforehand, like the CNN Bureau admitted?

I guess you would just have to note the name on every story and then Google it.

blogs.reuters.com

has a large collection of names of reuters reporters, though the site isn't working for me just now

I don't believe Reuters actually employs many Americans.

It's a British news agency operating in an Arab country. Any particular reason they should make an effort to find and hire Americans in Baghdad?

Well, I would assume that any American reporters, writers, editors, photographers, cameramen, sound techs and producers in Baghdad are there because they already have jobs. It's not like they're hanging out in the Home Depot parking lot waiting for someone in a truck to pull up looking for a TV news crew.

Nice try.

What, do you know of a lot of Americans looking for work in Baghdad whom Reuters has refused to hire? Is there a Craigslist page I missed?

This link gives a lot of background on Reuters. Strangely enough, reuters makes most of its money reporting and disseminating financial reports and related news. It makes very little of its income from its news service.

Reuters Corporate Directors: Tom Glocer • Lawton Fitt • Niall Fitzgerald • David Grigson • Penny Hughes • Edward Kozel • Rosemary Martin • Deryck Maughan • Ken Olisa • Dick Olver • Charles Sinclair • Ian Strachan • Devin Wenig

I think the organization is basically socialist/communist and it has a very large HQ in London.

They are biased and unapologetic about it. They have an agenda which is basically "globalism."

And why is that strange? Financial news is Reuters' bread and butter. Always has been. hey only got into the business of general news because all kinds of things bear on the markets, and their clients wanted that info.

The event that really put Reuters on the map was Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo. Ernst Reuter grasped the importance of instant information, and made arrangements with every telegraph company in Europe. Where there were gaps in the wires, they used carrier pigeons.

When Napoleon went down to defeat, Reuters clients were the first to know; so they cleaned up by selling Francs and buying Rubles before other folks caught up to the news.

I know folks who've been in meetings about licensing their content, and they seemed pretty solidly capitalist on the question of getting paid.

and it has a very large HQ in London.

Well, I suppose being headquartered in London is suspicious for a British company, because ... okay, you're gonna have to help me out here.

Their reporters seem to share a cultural view that is socialist/comunist. This comes from a cultural trend of "anti-imperialism" which is a culture which seeks to assign historical guilt of those long dead to modern governments, including the USA. Note that they do not have a similar approach to China or to Russia, or to France, whose images are tailored according to the predominant political correctness of the week.

Since Reuters is "anti-imperialist" , the News Organization has a distinct social agenda. It is this soap box which is used to hire firebrand type reporters who see themselves as the saviours of the modern world, when in fact they simply traduce it.

People are quite correct in assuming bias on the part of the news organization, and acknowledging the social agenda they hold as an organization. A CAse in point is the doctoring opf photos in the Israeli/Hezbollah conflict. The use of inflamattory overstatement is not confined to photos, but is an editorial characteristic.

Reuters is essentially a propaganda machine in terms of news.
