Lansing, MI (AHN) - According to a Michigan Parole Board decision on Thursday, Dr. Jack Kervokian, who served eight years in jail for helping to give a lethal dose of drugs to a 52-year-old man will be released on parole on June 1.
Kervorkian, 78, was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Thomas Youk in 1998. Youk had Lou Gehrig's disease at the time.
Spokesman Russ Marlan said, Kervorkian had been rejected for parole earlier, but the board reconsidered its decision when Kervorkian said his health was declining.
The board also reviewed whether or not the pathologist would be a threat to society upon release from prison and was asked to vow that he would not participate in more assisted suicides.
Kervorkian's lawyer said earlier that the doctor had hepatitis C and diabetes and that his weight had dropped to 113 pounds; it is also believed that he had less than a year to live.
The ailing doctor is serving a 10-25 year sentence.
"the doctor had hepatitis C and diabetes and that his weight had dropped to 113 pounds; it is also believed that he had less than a year to live."
I judge his quality of life to be lacking and think he should be euthanized. /sarc
He will commit suicide. You can bank on it.
This could make a good bet you know. I doubt he offs himself...though he really wouldn't be missed. Maybe they can release him and let him walk home...he is located pretty much in the middle of nowhere frozen Michigan.
"Kevorkian is a serial killer hiding behind a medical degree."
I agree. I was saddened to hear that they'd even release this monster. Must've been a number of libs on his Parole Board.
He's an *artist*, too....
As I've said before here on FreeRepublic, Kevorkian is a serial killer with a clever MO. Period.
While I agree with you 100%, he is in jail only because the SCOTUS did'nt grant him a licence to kill like they did to the doctor' (?) who rip apart innocent babies while getting paid to perform this horrific procedure.
As far as I'm concerned it's murder either way.
