McCain Beats Hillary 50-36

Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 11:15 a.m. EST McCain Beats Hillary in New Poll

Sen. John McCain would easily defeat Sen. Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head race for the White House in 2008, a new poll reveals. In the Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg survey, half of those polled said they would vote for Arizona Republican McCain, while only 36 percent said they would choose New York Democrat Clinton. The rest said they weren’t sure, or would vote for someone else. The poll also found that Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney would give Clinton a tough fight – 42 percent of respondents picked Clinton over Romney and 36 percent picked the Republican. The poll results "lend credence to some Democrats’ fear that despite Mrs. Clinton’s clear strength within the party, she would prove too polarizing a figure to win the White House,” the Times reported. The poll also demonstrates that McCain "would be a strong general election candidate because of his appeal to independent voters,” the Times also noted. Half of the independents surveyed said they would vote for McCain, compared to 32 percent for Clinton. Also, 49 percent of respondents said they would prefer to see a Democrat win the White House in 2008, and 41 preferred a Republican. That means some respondents who prefer a Democrat said they would vote for McCain rather than Clinton in the general election.

Absolutely, at least Rudy is trust worthy.

Thanks for parroting the mantra of the Drive By Media, but I can do without their advice, thank you very much. If McCain gets the nomination (God forbid) it'll be nonstop Keating Five, speculation on his temper, and "is he too old to be President" questions. And wait until they move onto his wife.

The only reason the dinosaurian media is boosting McPAIN is because he is easily defeatable as he doesn't stand for anything, and they have all the dirt on him readily available since he's been their LAPDOG.

And Rudy beats McCain. Plus he's not the backstabbing, slightly unhinged, emotional basket case who would be the oldest Presidential nominee in U.S. History.

The Obama/Hillary axis of evil will come together on the same ticket. Their forces are mounting and they represent a formidable challenge. Only McCain can save this country from these two.

How in the world can you support Guiliani when he is pro -abortion, pro-partial birth abortion, would allow gay marriage etc. His social agenda is outrageous.

That's why they didn't include Rudy in there poll, they would rather have McCain than Rudy.

I'm sick of stupid polls, anyway. There is another thread about another LATimes push poll about the growing income gap. These stupid newspapers are going to be hitting us with these polls from now to the election, trying to create news, rather than report any real news.

HOW can you support McPAIN when he is for outright capitulation in everything conservatives stand for.
How about his stancec on fighting terror?
How about his stance on campaign finance?
And his stance on issues that would, for example, directly influence whether or not sites like FR can remain open?
McPAIN is all for gagging and restricting sites like ours under the premise that we are a go around on 527 regs.

Yes the ability to win is important especailly when that candidate is a conservative who has good credentials like McCain . You may disagree on a number of issues but compare him to the alternative of Hillary or Obama. Lets get real. Guiliani is not a social conservative. I like the guy and would vote for him against any Demoncrat but McCain is far more acceptable on the social issues.

This is an ongoing attempt by the drive-by-media to set up McRINO as Hillary's opponent.

They have the goods on him and know she can beat him.

Don't fall for anything the liberal media is pimping.

"Yes the ability to win is important "

THAT much is right.
Now how about the issues at hand?
McPAIN is a LAPDOG for the media, and thus compromised.
He cannopt win, and never will.
He'd be the shoehorn that would let Hillary slide into the White House in '08.

I believe the Republican "machine" will fall in behind McCain. The deal was struck before the 2004 election when Bush needed McCain on the campaign trail.

If McCain is willing to commit more troops to "finish the job" in Iraq, that is someone we must consider seriously.

Even if he stabs us in the back on all other issues.
