A man was fatally shot Wednesday evening in southwest Houston while eating crawfish at a Cajun restaurant, the Houston Police Department said. The 29-year-old man was seated while eating in the Cajun Kitchen at 11900 Bellaire around 9 p.m. when two men entered and shot him in the head, police said. The owner of the restaurant chased the suspects and fired several shots at the gunmen before they escaped.
The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

Interesting how sometimes the smallest item later becomes a significant story. This sounds like a professional-style hit.

The crime rate has sky rocketed in SW Houston. The only thing that surprises me about this story is that someone can find crawfish to eat out of season. I can't find them anywhere. If this is the only place to eat them I think I will go without.

The owner of the restaurant chased the suspects and fired several shots at the gunmen before they escaped. Makes me think this wasn't the best side of town in the first place.

Probably an incensed chef that shot him. The lesson: NEVER eat food out of season!

This is scary. This is not that far from the office. Does sound like a contract hit; what's next -- banning crawfish out of season?

Makes me think this wasn't the best side of town in the first place. That part of town isn't bad (other sections far worse); it should be mentioned that a significant percentage of New Orleans evacuees now reside in that part of town.

no actually the south and east sides are the epitomy of houston.
Southwest houston is nearly chinatown.
the biggest mall is there (the Galleria) but that does not matter.
I agree with another poster. The New orleansization of Houston. I never went to east houston for fear of crime. I lived in south houston for 2 weeks before someone crashed in my window of my cavalier and stole my stereo systems.
I promised myself that the only way I was going back there was on a business trip and not to stay for anything over 24 hours.
