Meehan owns the lab, but you're right, he'll have some 'splainin' to do...

Nifong is probably going to be the only one who ends up in jail.

I think we should start a new word; as in "that guy is such a 'nifong' for doing nothing as that woman was mugged." Excellent idea.
"Gee. Joe from Accounting really 'nifonged' you in that meeting with Internal Audit."

"Well duh! She's a prostitute ... what did anybody expect?"
Why would her panties have DNA then? Prostitutes (from what I understand!) tend to use condoms.
Who the heck does it belong to and what really happened, and why did she blame the guys she blamed?
Very bizarre twist.

Nifong is going down. The only question is, how hard.

I am not so sure. This is a defeatocrat area. The more corrupt the defeatocrat is the more defeatocrats like him. Look at what just happened to William Jefferson in his defeatocrat district in LA. Did I mention I do not like defeatocrats?

Interesting dynamic here - now we have an outsider potentially on the hot seat. He was in the same room with Nifong, Hinman, and Gottlieb. Wanna bet Hinman & Gottlieb are thinking hard what to do here now? They gotta believe that whatever Meehan says is going to incriminate them too.
Nifong is probably going to be the only one who ends up in jail.

"DNA from multiple sources"
I'm beginning to think one of the sources came from nifong and that's why he's so dead set on laying the blame at the Duke players feet.

Exactly. Depending on the jury, recovery of costs is not going to be easy. The last ray of hope or despair is the jury. Any further action relies upon an acquittal. I don't think a judge will dismiss, so that's out.

One of the demands the defendants' attorneys are making in the most recent motion is for production of "Communications Logs", which were NOT included with the thousands of pages of material the lab sent. Imagine that.

Remember all the discussion about a pubic hair found on Mangum. It was the last straw many that believed in Mangum held on to.
The motion says: "DNA from multiple males sources was discovered on the pubic hair comb; it was compared to the known reference samples from the lacrosse players; and none of it matched any of the players."

The case is hopelessly compromised and unwinnable for the prosecution. Evidence is also accumulating that Nifong may have engaged in a conspiracy to incriminate the lacrosse players, obviously a crime in itself.
So when I say he's going down, the only question is how hard, I mean at the very least his case is lost. If that's all that happens, he'll have gone down softly. From there the possibilities for how hard he goes down include everything from strong and vocal public opprobrium, to a recall vote, to prosecution and prison time for criminal conspiracy.

As someone on D-I-W pointed out, there's more Meehan DNA in that sordid brew than there is DNA from the accused players...
From the WRAL article - The defense motion also contends that at least one sample sent to DNA Security, a private lab in Burlington, might have been contaminated because it included DNA from Dr. Brian Meehan, the lab's director.

Looks like he sold DNASI recently:
"Meehan sold his company after considering several financing options."

The Duke guys should be happy they did not have any form of sex with the whore. From the sounds of it they are probably the only ones in town that did not have sex with her.
To: Ken H
Thanks, Ken. Well, there goes that consulting agreement!
If I were Meehan I'd be investigating joining the witness protection program. Breathing while Meehan may not be safe in Durham. And the lads really need his testimony.

A private laboratory hired by the prosecution in the Duke lacrosse case failed to report that it found DNA from multiple males in the accuser's body and underwear, according to a defense motion filed today. So it seems she was a whore that didn't like to use condoms with her Johns. Where's the case and shouldn't this female be prosecuted for false prosecution?

You are, of course, assuming that Meehan is not involved in the conspiracy. Perhaps Meehan was supposed to compromise the evidence?

Some people will do anything for money.
Some people just don't care or think nothing is going to happen to them. I would guess the DNA belonged to a "customer". And why blame the boys? The customers she's accustomed to don't have that kind of money.
