A private laboratory hired by the prosecution in the Duke lacrosse case failed to report that it found DNA from multiple males in the accuser's body and underwear, according to a defense motion filed today. The lab, DNA Security of Burlington, found that the DNA did not match the three defendants, their lacrosse teammates or anyone else who submitted their DNA to police, including the accuser's boyfriend.
The new evidence emerged in thousands of documents handed over to the defense in October.

Were both parents of each defendant there?
Ah!!! Thanks Loco. How did Collin, Reade and Dave seem?
I don't know them all to recognize for sure. CF's dad I did recognize and I'm sure his mom was there. There were a man and a woman sitting behind and talking to DE that sure looked like him so I'm assuming parents. RS's parents had to be there as well. I can't imagine them not being there.
The DNA testimony was reviewed in excruciating detail. They looked attentive but a little bored.
No info on that today. Probably will have to wait for trial.
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it has to do with protocol when someone makes a rape claim. Or maybe it's to let the woman know that she is already pregnant if she's planning to take the day-after pill. I always forget, is that the one that is abortive?
How many lax players were there? What was up with the paternity test stuff - a defense attorney demanded it right? Sorry if you've already answered this. I am coming in late.
Sounds like a lot of mamas are taking your advice.
Under questioning by Jim Cooney, a defense attorney for Seligmann, Meehan admitted that his report violated his laboratorys standards by not reporting results of all tests.
Did Nifong and his investigators know the results of all the DNA tests? Cooney asked.
I believe so, Meehan said.
Did they know the test results excluded Reade Seligmann? Cooney asked.
I believe so, Meehan said.
Was the failure to report these results the intentional decision of you and the district attorney? Cooney asked.
Yes, Meehan replied.
At that answer, several people in the packed courtroom clapped. Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith III warned the standing-room only crowd to be quiet or leave.
Meehans testimony differed from a statement Nifong made at the beginning of todays hearing.
The first I had heard of this particular situation was when I was served with this particular motion on Wednesday, Nifong told the judge. After court, Nifong clarified his remarks to say that he knew about the DNA results.
"And we were trying to, just as Dr. Meehan said, trying to avoid dragging any names through the mud but at the same time his report made it clear that all the information was available if they wanted it and they have every word of it, Nifong said.

I counted 8-10 males with maybe 3-4 females. The defense filed a motion seeking to force a paternity test on CGM. Nifong said it was pointless because she's not due 'till Feb 1 which would place conception well after 13-14 March. Defense wanted it anyway and after some quibbling about the wording the motion was granted.
Backtracking Nifong thinks that his good intentions in committing an illegal act should is a sufficient excuse? And he's an attorney sworn to uphold the LAW?
I'm not sure the females were lax players.

"The state is not aware of any additional material or information which may be exculpatory in nature with respect to the defendant," Nifong wrote in a court filing.
"How on earth would she get pregnant from one of the players if NONE Of their DNA is anywhere near her?
"Magic sperm theory," a la Alan Specter?"
Call me crazy (or sick, or whatever) for even having the imagination to think of this, although it would be such an unfortunate and bizarre -- yet perfectly Nifongian -- twist:
What if someone at the party happened to have pleasured themselves in the bathroom in the moments before the CGM-lock-in? That scum-sucker could have scooped up the jism and coerced it into a to-go container before leaving the scene. From that point on, it's anyone's guess as to how and when she could have impregnated herself.
Breaking News: Babydaddy could be a Turkey Baster!
Congratulations to Nifong! In addition to being a verb, he's now also an adjective (Nifongian - Methinks that one is my favorite, if I do say so myself!)
Moot point. Nifong himself says so. Baby not due 'till Feb 07.
Nifong is a Serial LIAR. Will no judge call him on his contempt for the court?
If the defense finds out who the father is, is there any chance that they would be able to depose him? (I mean, can the guy be forced to testify?) One might think that you may have confided in someone with whom you were in a committed relationship as to the real reason why this case is going forward...
Somehow, I can't see Crystal "committed" to anyone...only committeed to making money for herself the real "old fashioned way".
I totally agree. I was just using cousin Jack-kays words. I was also wondering what advantage the defense has in having the test administered.
