Sprinter says Muslim garb makes her faster

DOHA, Qatar - Sprinter Ruqaya Al Ghasara of Bahrain isn't held back by running in a hijab, a full Muslim headscarf. In fact, she says, it makes her even quicker.
''Wearing traditional Muslim dress has encouraged me. It's not an obstacle - quite the opposite,'' said Al Ghasara, who won the gold medal in the 200 meters on Monday night in 23.19 seconds.
The bronze medalist earlier in the 100, Al Ghasara is instantly recognizable in her full-length running suit that leaves her hands and face exposed. It's only traditional in spirit, however: The fabric is clingy and stretchable and her white hajib headwear bears the swoosh trademark of her sponsor.
Al Ghasara said her outfit is a personal choice, although custom weighs heavily. While other Bahraini female athletes compete in the clothing more typical of their sports, many are naturalized Bahraini citizens who were not raised Muslim.
Yet Al Ghasara, who claims U.S. sprinter Marion Jones as a role model, said she hoped her clothing choice would inspire other Muslim women to join competitive sports.

I think you all are being unfair. If this is a woman, she may be pictured in her worst light. After all, in every 1 of these pix she's "straining". Not at all relaxed looking.
And BTW, never mind all the ugly men I've seen who're never called on it. But of course MEN being ugly isn't important.

Some of the most stunningly beautiful women in the world are Persian.
She can run faster because it keeps her testicles from slapping around.
Actually, the hijab is just the scarf--i.e., you can still see their faces. A burka is, for lack of a better word, a giant sheet worn like a loose, hooded dress, with either a slit for the eyes or an even more attractive screen that obscures the whole face.

In a race against Flo - this gal/guy would have appeared as an "also ran"...
As an aside - this is one chick that SHOULD wear a full veil.. I'd bet money there is a chromosome miscount..

From the forearms to the thighs to the overall thickness of the body, not to mention the face, that is NOT a female.
As I understand it, a hijab is NOT a burqa. The hijab is the religious headscarf (some/most) muslim women wear. The burqa is that hideous full-length covering we saw women wearing in Afghanistan before we went in.
