A Brit newspaper is reporting that the US "secret services" -- presumably the CIA and NSA -- were spying on Princess Diana, bugging her telephone conversations in the summer of 1997, up to and including the day she died. But why would anyone bother? The British royals aren't much involved in politics or matters of national security.
There's only one reason I can think of. Was Clinton wanting to get the lowdown on her before asking for a date? I am pursuing other information from experts, trusted sources, and the usual suspects

After all, its not as if Clinton was shy about using the power of the Presidency (or governorship) to spy on people and/or sexually exploit them.

My guess is--on the presumption that the U.K. has domestic spying restrictions--that we were spying on her so that we could pass off the info to the Brits without them having to go through any internal judicial hurdles.

Other news sources have reported that the NSA never tapped her phone, but has a small amount of 'incidental collection' on her based off of them targeting other people. If the NSA is wiretapping John Doe, and John Doe calls or is called by Princess Di, then they're going to have Princess Di's voice recorded somewhere. The NSA isn't targeting her anymore than they're targeting the Pizza Hut that John Doe calls for delivery, or the bank he calls to see if he can refinance his loan.
This is truely a mountain out of a molehill.

Bill probably ALREADY hit on her...and Hillary was just checking it out....she was probably prego with Bill's love child?????? Now theres a conspiracy

Her boyfriend at the time of her death was a Muslim. Rich and I believe from Saudi Arabia. Maybe he was a financier of some event that caught someones eye.

I suspect that DI had a number of chats per month with people who were regularly wanted in the US for tax evasion and fraud. She probably never realized the characters she was hanging around and just became a big target. When you look at Cat Stevens today in the UK...he is a Muslim who probably hasn't done anyone any wrong...but his association with various shady characters...especially in the charity world...makes him a great target to spy upon.

I'm just tired of it all. The woman is dead. Why can't people let her rest in peace.

This has Hillary's fingerprints all over it!
....for several reasons.
To: Behind Liberal Lines
I recall reports of Di sleeping over at the White House once when Hillary was out of town. I seem to recall Hillary being upset at the time.
We all recall the private detectives, and the 300 (?) or so FBI files on political opponents immediately after Bill took office.
We all suspected a continuing investigation of everybody the Clintons thought they could intimidate with information on their background.
Don't rule out his checking on Di to help him get laid.

I sincerely doubt this based off the fact that Clinton's tastes seem to be considerably less than Princess Di. If he had actually had an affair with Princess Di, I think we'd have a different opinion of Clinton. For one, we might not ever know about it, because Princess Di probably would have done her laundry. And also, dating Di would make Clinton more suave - like JFK was suave for dating Marilyn Monroe.
But let's face it - Monica Lewinsky - she's pretty trashy. Like Brittney Spears-reality TV trashy.
