Afghan warlord: insurgents helped Democrats win U.S. mid-term elections (Gulbuddin Hekmatyar)

Pakistan (AP) - In a rare video message, Afghan insurgent leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar claims that American troops will be forced out of Afghanistan like the Soviets before them.

The leader of the Hezb-e-Islami militant group also touts the Republican Party defeat in last month's U.S. midterm elections as a victory for militants fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

"It seems that every bullet that mujahedeen had fired toward the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan has turned into a vote against Bush," Hekmatyar said in the undated video statement received by Associated Press Television in Pakistan.

"There is no doubt that is a great victory and success for Afghan and Iraqi mujahedeen," he said. "I am convinced that the fate Soviet Union faced is awaiting America as well."

The bespectacled and bearded Hekmatyar, who wore a neat black turban, speaks in an undisclosed location in front of a rattan backdrop. He is wrapped in a light grey shawl.

"Very soon we will see that, God willing, American troops will leave Afghanistan and Iraq with their heads bowed down," Hekmatyar said in the video.

The terrorists get it. Seriously, they really do understand they won a big victory in November. The MSM and a majority of American voters either understood they were choosing defeat or simply didn't care. Perhaps America can survive another Vietnam-style debacle. Perhaps. Sooner or later, though, we are going to have to pay the price for our decisions.

I was hoping we wouldn't just abandon the afghanis and feed them back to the taliban. Democrats actually want this?

The taliban is Pakistan. Mush has been playing a waiting game with Bush. He, Mush, knew that all he had to do was wait him out 2-4 years max. All dictators know that they just have to wait it out...US elections will fix their predicament.

""It seems that every bullet that mujahedeen had fired toward the Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan has turned into a vote against Bush," Hekmatyar said in the undated video statement received by Associated Press Television in Pakistan. "

Oh bull!
This fool can continue to deceive himself if he wants.
Tom Foley had far more to do with Republican losses than some idiot called Hekmatyar.
Things were worse in Afghanistan in 2004, we still won anyway.
Associated (with terrorists) Press shilling for their terrorist pals again eh?
So what's new there?

Just what is a Afghan insurgent leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar? Some self-styled warlord?

We provide the Afghan people with a somewhat stable environment, we employ the Afghan on the street so he can provide for his family. During my time there in '03-04, the locals were glad that the Taliban were gone. The locals were glad that we were there. The US, Egyptian, and Korean military hospitals provided the Afghans with medical attention.

At Bagram Air Base, the locals lined up in droves, many traveled from Kabul and even farther away. We had so many applications for work that we couldn't employ them all. Gulbiddin Hekmatyar is talking out his a$$.
