The recent announcement from the National Center for Health Statistics that the out-of-wedlock birth rate is at an all-time high is bad news for America

IMHO, the kids are victims of both her and their fathers.
She was a victim of "I'd hit it" FOUR TIMES?!
The Philadelphia Daily News allegedly reported:
Ward, who at age 27 has had four children by four different fathers, eschews any personal fault for her own situation, claiming that none of her four births were intended.Taking NO responsibility at all... I wonder...should she be renamed Fadia Ward-Of-The-State?
I'd be interested to see the authors take on couples having children, but not marrying.
I didn't look closely at the statistics when they came out, but most of the attention has been on women choosing to have children on their own.
Is it just that there isn't a high incidence of unwed couples having children?
I think it is the MOST selfish thing you can do.

Not this.

sorry--I must have clicked the wrong button. Can you keep the article on the site but remove it from the activism section?
It seems to claim that she's 16 months away from a B.A. degree, yet the English is at elementary-school level.
DarkStar Spouts Off reports:
Pregnant with her first child at age 12, she has four children - ages 3, 7, 10 and 14 - by four men. But she got pregnant with her two middle children despite using birth control, she said. Her fourth pregnancy came after the man "bamboozled" her by secretly removing his condom during sex, she said.According to http://thephink.com/thethink/greymatter/smmfh/, her website features pornography links.
But none dare call it pathologic.
I am a 26 year old female medical student who is not currently in a relationship. I should finish med school by the time I'm 29 going on 30. The way things look now, I don't see myself in a "proper" relationship and getting ready to get married by the time I'm finished with school. Mind you, after med school, I'll also have to do a residency, which in itself could take 3 to 7 years. All my life, I've wanted to be someone's wife, and someone else's mother, but again, I don't see that happening. If it is that when I reach age 33 I am unmarried, and not in a relationship, I know that I will take matters into my own hands. It's a lifelong dream for me to be married, but I can't control that. I can, however, control whether I become a mother. I totally agree that single motherhood shouldn't be chosen, but I refuse to have studied so long, and for so hard to not have anyone to work for. If given a choice, I wouldn't want to raise a child by myself, but the threat of my child being wayward for lack of a father is not enough reason for me to remain childless. Truth is that most children DO NOT end up wayward. Most do quite well. In addition, I do have other male figures in my life, such as my father and brothers and very good male friends. My child will not be lacking in positive male figures. So, just to sum up, my decision to have a child on my own is not a way to assert independence. It is not to say that I don't need a man. It is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of being able to nurture and care for someone else apart from myself.
Man are you in the wrong place and for a whole day too.
I have a suggestion, something for you to try.
Re-write your post, but try from a child's perspective, explain why it will be great for the child to grow up without a father. Have the child explain about her mother's reasons for having her, and see if you can stil make it sound like a good thing.
You know, it isn't hard to find men to get married to, especially if you really are willing to "sacrifice" to reach your "goal" of having a child. Unless of course your talk of how important it is only applies to the child sacrificing a father, and not YOU making any sacrifices.

Best of luck learning to care for something besides yourself. Really.
Don't medical students use paragraphs?
Well, maybe I might not use paragraphs... The tools of my trade are stethescopes, needles and a whole host of other instruments... I'll be a DOCTOR, not a journalist or any other type of writer. (I am sure you scanned my submission to check my spelling, right?)
(LOOK HERE IS A NEW PARAGRAPH)
Next time, come better at targeting me. All I am doing is expressing an opinion, and there is absolutely no need to attack. I remain at the same stand. Remember, I did say that being a single mother is not ideal for a child, don't get me wrong. But again, I emphasize that I will not remain childless for fear of my child turning out wayward.
