The governor said she would not abandon the city, but stressed that she wants to see an "exit plan" plan from New Orleans officials for ending reliance on the state help.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Exit Plan? Garf! Why are these liberal moonbats so "cut and run?" She should be training a new class of NOP recruits at the Academy and bringing them on line, instaed she just wrings her hands over the cost! What a maroon!

You gotta love Louisiana, run by Democrats. I hear all those folks that don't have homes could move to another city run by Democrats and get free houses, Detroit. There's an article right here on Free Republic about 12,000 abandoned homes there.

How about they stop patrolling after the Saints win the Super Bowl?

If the Governor were truly interested in cleaning up New Orleans, she should start with the cesspool known as Bourbon Street. Get rid of the strip clubs, the prostitutes, and the pimps and bring back the jazz clubs and the eateries! The place is simply appalling!!

"ungovernable hellhole--"
Yep---but it is the home of the 'defunct' National D-Day Museum that is now the National WW2 Museum with the blessings of our Congress which was led by Pubs until this election---bet tax dollars went into that deal as well as the funds from FEMA, etc.---they sucked in us WW2 D-Day vets to support and build it and then stuck it up our keisters so the 'wheels' could get fatter paychecks and pensions---corrupt city in a corrupt state and all run by the RAT Party

what is truly sickening is that the proportion of people who'll work for a living compared to that of people indefinitely on welfare is higher after Katrina in New Orleans. A smaller minority of baddies is doing more harm than before the storm-- if they can just beef up the judicial system to where it's not catch and release for lack of prison space, most of the idiots shooting each other will be behind bars pretty quickly.

That was Tom Rodrigue, Jefferson Parish's emergency services director. He may not have been able to leave his post to do that. The nursing home operators did not evacuate and are under arrest:

Nursing home owners booked in 34 deaths

"..The owners of a St. Bernard Parish nursing home where 34 residents died during Hurricane Katrina were arrested Tuesday and booked with negligent homicide for allegedly failing to evacuate the home despite grave warnings about the storm's power and an offer by parish officials to send buses, state Attorney General Charles Foti said..."
