More liberal twaddle. Symbolism over substance.

The firm tells drivers that for $49.99 they can make up for the 12,000 tons of carbon a typical sedan or station wagon produces in a year. Somebody should check their facts.

The firm tells drivers that for $49.99 they can make up for the 12,000 tons of carbon a typical sedan or station wagon produces in a year.12,000 tons = 24,000,000 pounds...that's 24 million pounds! Gasoline weighs 6 lbs/gallon, so that is 4 million gallons of gas...assuming all of it converted to carbon dioxide. At 20 miles per gallon, you'll have to drive 80 million miles a year. The person who wrote this story must have been the valedictorian at a California high school.

Effing idiots.
Maybe they can buy a racism pass, too. That way they can say whatever they want and still be "part of the solution."

People who fiddle around with silly things like TerraPass are engaging in half-measures. They know what they need to do... They just don't have the guts.

Firms that sell such offsets help consumers calculate how much carbon their activities generate, then pledge to counterbalance the environmental impact by restoring forests, forcing businesses to curb emissions and funding renewable energy such as wind and solar. Unbelievable. I feel guilty, but instead making my own sacrifice, I'll pay to make someone else sacrifice.

"Now I don't feel guilty when I drive my car."This lady is embarrasing, and makes me proud of big gas guzzling 8 cyl Durango. Hey, Cody, for every dollar you spend, Im going to drive an extra mile!
To: BenLurkin
Jill Cody used to feel guilty whenever she drove her car or flew on an airplane. She worried about pumping heat-trapping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and contributing to global warming. In all seriousness, many common aspects of left-leaning (*cough*) behavior, e.g., militant vegetaranism, are indistinguishable and in some cases are in fact symptoms of underlying obsessive-compulsive disorder. This "carbon anxiety", if I may coin a phrase, might similarly be masking an anxiety disorder.
