What percentage of these shootings involved African Americans? I know they're poor and they can't help themselves !!!
Actually, I think that's 5.5 per 100,000 people.
16,137 per 100,00 would be pretty staggering. That's the kind of record you only get in the most Democrat districts, like Compton, CA or New Orleans.
The 16,000+ figure is the total number of homicides for ALL of the USA in 2004, not per 100,000 people.
5.5 per 100,000 people is what it breaks down to, when you take the entire population of the US, so you are correct. :)
Still, 1,344+ people being killed each MONTH is pretty amazing since we're not at war on the home front and are a civilized society. Or are we? ;)
I live in a town adjacent to Fort Hood, Texas...it's sickening to hear about every single accident and "close call" or whatever. As though those things don't happen all the time, everywhere. You're right that they'll be reporting on shaving mishaps before long.
What really bugs me are the reports of local soldiers arrested for various little crimes around here. They never fail to point out that the criminal is "a Fort Hood soldier." There is virtually no other sector whose profession is routinely (and gleefully?) highlighted in negative reports. School personnel and Fort Hood soldiers are singled out. You don't hear that "a local Burger King employee was arrested for..." His crime would just be reported without mention of his place of work. They really stick it to the soldiers and it supersucks.
OK, I'm going to ask the question again. What percentage of these murders and shootings involve AFRICAN AMERICANS? I know it's not politically correct to to single out a group of people who are prone to violence over other groups but honest statistics don't lie !!!

OH, YES!! The great Wilson Goode. He has the police drop a bomb on some crazy quasi religious sect that barricaded themselves in their house and were shooting at the police.
The bomb blew up the house and the two on either side and started a fire that took down about two city blocks of homes.
Say what you will, the MAN got the job DONE!!
