Arianna Huffington really needs to rethink access to her blog. Lately, the nonsensical ravings of her guests would be much more appropriate at Daily Kos than the Huffington Post.
This abomination by actor Alec Baldwin is a perfect example. On the day America learned it had lost one of the classiest people to ever represent our country at the United Nations, Baldwin chose to disparage her in a way that either questioned her femininity, or insinuated she was a warmonger:
I heard William Bennett on CNN, eulogizing Jean [sic] Kirkpatrick. He referred to her as the GOP's Thatcher and called her "our Iron Lady." What is it about these people that they can never talk of peace? (Even their women have to come across like Vince Lombardi.)
How thoroughly disgraceful. Huffington should either request Baldwin apologize for this detritus, or do it herself.
Yet, that wasnt Baldwins only absurdity (emphasis mine):
There is a way to defeat terrorism while building new and better alliances in the Arab world. It will be an enormously complex and difficult diplomatic puzzle. But the first step might be oddly simple. Get rid of the CIA, which has outlived its usefulness and is an embarrassment to this great country, and rebuild and reform US intelligence capabilities to fight this new type of threat. I think our hopes must begin there.
Imagine that. According to this genius, getting rid of the nations foremost intelligence agency will defeat terrorism. He must also think we could reduce the crime rate by eliminating police officers.
Welcome to enlightened, liberal elite thinking, ladies and gentlemen, brought to you on a daily basis by the editors of the Huffington Post. Arianna must be very proud.
Now that is excellent--never heard it before. But is it Islamderthals or Islamdertals? Perhaps blam or SunkenCiv can give us a ruling...
Don't forget his uniformed experience:
A movie performance as the tiny brained, tiny dicked conductor on the Thomas the Train Engine.
The only reason why this guy is even listened to is because he is allegedly famous and did a couple of movies. Frankly, he is a f----- actor! They are luckly that they know their lines yet alone foreign policy.
Mere
MATT DAMON!!
Wasn`t he the one who was moving out of the country if Bush got in? He`s still here?????
I think DeNiro's new movie, The Good Shepard is the rallying cry to start the left's attack on the CIA. Our enemies couldn't think up better enemies than some of our own citizens.
This old article is apt and right on: Alec Baldwin: The never-ending moron (March 11, 2002 - ESR [Enter Stage Right])
Nothing new. Libs have always believe that simply telling your enemies that you love them will win them over. In the early nineties there were a number of voices calling for eliminating the CIA. As I recall they were all libs or Dems. The undermining of our intel is the reason 9/11 happened. With the connivance of Quisling libs.
I have a friend who went to high school with him.
He was a pr!$% then also.
I thought the conventional wisdom was that the CIA was filled with Valerie Plame types -- leftist oh-so-politically-correct social climbers who are more worried about their power, prestige, and BMW payments than about crawling around a cave in Kandahar.
Alex Baldwin is a complete has-been grasping at anything to get noticed again.
Alex Baldwin is a complete has-been grasping at anything to get noticed again.
He's an overpaid fading actor who thinks he knows everything.
There isn't a person on earth who could out-debate her, and her wit was brutal to those with the arrogance to try. When she's long dead, she'll still be the master of someone like Alec "Which Way to My Ass?" Baldwin.
"Get rid of the CIA, which has outlived its usefulness and is an embarrassment to this great country, and rebuild and reform US intelligence capabilities to fight this new type of threat."
Sorry but I have to agree with him on this point. The CIA is an embarrassment for a few different reasons but mainly due to Congress and CIA directors not having the balls or intelligence to run such an organization, no pun intended. After the Bay of Pigs fiasco everyone got scared and put an end to all significant operations. The CIA has become a bunch of geeks sitting in front of computers watching images from spy satellites. When they need information they go to the Library of Congress to find it. Real intelligence gathering means relying on boots on the ground along with officers and allies around the world.
I would sure as hell advocate a new, better, less-technology reliant intelligence agency without the beaurocracy and "don't step on my toes" mentality of the CIA. I would not advocate any type of meaningful communication with the enemy, Islamofacists.
