I am leaving for arizona in february.
I was born in California a long time ago. I have lived here all my life. California has become a Third World sewer. It will not be long before the outcast trash that the Third World elects start confiscatory taxation. My wife and I went up to Reno to start our search for a house. We plan on moving; Real Soon!( By the way no liberal baggage will come with us.)
California is a mess.
I was born and raised in San Diego and we left 15 years ago for North Carolina.Even though my family is still there,I would not even think of moving back.I am not knocking San Diego , it is a beautiful place and I have a lot of memories there, but the way of life in North Carolina is so much better for me and it is now where I want to call home.
When I had to transfer back to the States from Japan in 2004, my greatest fear was that the Navy would send me to California. I was stationed there in the '80s when I was single, but there was no way I wanted my kids to live there now. Fortunately, I ended up in Virginia. I almost stayed there after I retired from the Navy.
even in a good economy, more people are leaving California for other states than are arriving from the rest of the country.
Which of course doesn't address the issue of the folks coming in from different countries.
Left CA after 45 years for New Mexico. But that was 8 yrs ago and now they are here. This is a liberal (near welfare) state---so this makes matters much worse. Albuquerque just passed a pet protection law--even down the the size of the perchs permitted in bird cages.
It is beautiful here, but is slowly being destroyed by the wack-ball liberals.
With the conservatives moving out of the State, my scheme to give California back to Mexico is looking better.
I took a business trip to California. My host probably told me 150 times how "laid back" folks in California are. And they aren't racist like us from the South.
California is eventually going to implode. You can feel it in the air, and sense it, like the first warm gusts of approaching Santa Ana winds.
At the moment, Governor Arnold is maintaining an uneasy equilibrium. He's become a lot like a Democrat recently, but he (unlike President Bush) doesn't hesitate to proclaim clearly when he's opposed to the most loopy leftwing ideas which regularly rise out of Sacramento - and he'll veto things which are stupid.
Unfortunately, he's likely to be replaced by MEChA alumni Villaraigosa. "Villa-LaRaza", as some refer to him, won't veto (any) of the far-left stupid stuff such as drivers licenses for illegals or even more far-left nonsense, because it's all consistent with the "reconquista" agenda he supports.
If stupid law drives non-Mexicans out, it just helps the reconquista.
Something's gonna give with a resounding "uh oh", sooner than later. Might be a quake which sets the stage, or unrest in Mexico, or a national recession - but the current situation really doesn't feel sustainable.

"Between 2004 and 2005, the migration flow into California from the other 49 states started flowing the other way."
Not to worry, for every US citizen that moves out 3 illegals will move in.
I bailed out last summer. Not to a "cheaper" are to live, but Hawaii is actually not as expensive by a small margin. No heating bills, solar hot water, sales tax is 1/2, proterty tax less than 1/2, etc. Yeah, the politics are disgustingly liberal, but I knew that. Traffic can be bad, but no one is an @sshole like 2 out of 3 in SoCal. Calif. is in a downward spiral fueled by real estate greed, socialists running the capitol, and being taxed to death to fund illegal aliens.
Grew up there 40-50 years ago, glad to be rid of what it has become.
I consider it pollution of the rest of the nation. They have screwed up one state; now they want to screw them all.
The first thing you hear from them is, "That isn't the way we did it in California." They wouldn't be so bad if they would STFU. Stay Home in the mess you created.
I recently rented a Uhaul trailer to bring some items from Montana to California. It cost about $75 one way. If I were to reverse the trip, the trailer would have cost about $490. Needless to say Uhaul is smiling.
Please, stay away from Texas.
there is no where to run to anymore. sure, you can buy yourself some time. but there is no "utopia" in america anymore, whatever problems you have in the state you are fleeing from, its coming to your destination state in time. that's why I stay in NY.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
That's why I left, and I'm a native Californian.
