Best post I've read so far. DC leads until the people speak and maybe, Maybe, we will in two years.

Absolutely false. Another example of what happens when your "Blue Ribbon Commission" spends more time talking to Junk Media "Journalists" then people who actually KNOW what they are talking about. We have and DO take out Mosques when we need to. Here is something I posted awhile ago. I will repeat it here. This is why Counter Insurgency is so painful for the Conventional Military to deal with. It is a form of limited war that falls short of Total War yet requires more violence then a typical police force can manage.
This is one of the political aspects of the problem that Conventional Military thinkers find so hard to deal with.
For example Al Sadr. Al Sadr is a clever little thug. He walks right up to the line but he does not cross it. He is typical of the sorts of messy little problems that crop up in a Counter Insurgency. NOT exactly and enemy not exactly an ally. So how you deal with him is troublesome. Since Malki and Al Sadr are both Shia, Malki cannot squish him without splitting his own power base. So he keeps trying to negotiate with the twit. Frankly, I think with the terrorists mostly broken now is the time to break the militias. Maliki is simply making a mistake here. What we need was the excuse and Al-Sadr's threats to launch a coup would of been the perfect excuse we needed to kill him and break his "Mahdi Army".
Unfortunately as usual the Arab way kicks in again. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk and more talk. Someone needs to sit Maliki down and speak truth to him. I am hoping that is what President Bush is coming out to tell him.
Here how Counter Insurgency done the Dinocon way would look.

Americans: Yo, all you Iraqis. Now we know you all have been oppressed and terrorized by Saddam and his goons for about 40 years so we came over here to show you a better way. So gather round and we are going to teach you this thing called Democracy. We want to teach you this cause we figure if we get can get enough of you following this ideology you will not follow the ideology that preaches it is a good thing to fly airplanes into buildings full of our Civilians.
Now the first things you need to learn is this part about the Rule of Law. Study the sub chapters on Innocent until prove Guilty, Trial by Jury, Right to Legal Representation and really important, the chapter on outlawing Cruel and Unusual Punishment. Ok, now while you do that, we are going to arbitrarily round up and kill any Iraqis who we think maybe have ever talked mean about us.
What? No we are not going to bother with any of that messy Democracy stuff cause we are at war. And according to our Holloweird Movie guide to Military Action flicks any time you are at war you can waste anyone who pisses you off for what ever reason you want any way you want to do it. According to Hollyweird, we don't need nothing like proof or nothing we can just go wack that little Al Sadr freak cause he pisses us off. Evidence? We don't need no stinkin' evidence. Our action movie heros never bother with any evidence. In the Movie we watch on TV says we are just suppose to go kill him because he pisses us off so that what we want to do here. Now quit talking back and learn our lessons on Democracy.
Iraqi 1. Hey Mahmoud, why are we helping these clowns?
Iraqi 2. What do you mean Achmed, they got rid of Saddam!
Iraqi 1. They did? Looks to me like they just took his place.
Iraqi 2. Well ya so?
Iraqi 1. Well at least the old thugs were from around here. These guys are not only from out of town they are not even Muslims. We may has well have Muslim thugs if we got to have thugs.
Iraqi 2. You right, time to join the Jihad!
That is what this "Counter Insurgency doctrine as learned from watching Rambo Movies" would produce. It is utter stupidity but forget trying to penetrate the Dinocons welded shut minds. They are too busy screaming their group think on Iraq to actually LEARN anything about Iraq.

I was surprised by some of what brownback had to say...I would expect the bottom line is that the grotesque partisanship that has consumed the Iraqi debate needs to subside. I haven't read the ISG report, nor do I intend to, but from what I have seen, much of it endorses the current Bush policy and strategy. Brit just now confirms this by saying that the ISG Report is in fact an endorsement of the Stay the Course policy of the Bush administration.

Great nuggets as usual anita, msnbc is so desperate to get an audience, any audience, they will do anything nice to see the msm stocks keep dropping.
I was surprised to see the LATimes interview with kagan failed to mention even a word abut Rush, her former guy pal, surprising.

Is this new?
^^^^^
Brownback was interviewed by Hugh Hewitt this week, very soon after the report came out, when he could have easily not commented the actual report. His response to a question on the ISG by Hewitt was totally 180 degrees opposite to what Hewitt had been expecting a conservative presidential wannabee to say. I forget the exact exchange but I bet the transcript is available, I'll try to find it.

Not only that but the dirty little secret in DC that NO one in the Junk Media seems to be picking up on is that 58 Democrats have to go back in 2008 and run for seats in districts that voted 52% or more for GW Bush in 2004. True, again. President just this friday met 45 Bluedog. dems. In the senate, Harry Reid may be theie elected majority leader, but his life lies with Lieberman.

Maybe people should quit taking the Junk Media's propaganda on Iraq as gospel truth and actually try LISTENING to the people on the ground in Iraq.
How many AP stringers have to be arrested helping Iraqi terrorist build bombs before Conservative stop drinking the Junk Medias poison on Iraq?

It is unbelievable how stupid they are.The ghost of Nevill Chamberlin lives on...
You have to go to the EU to find anything more stupid, and even there you'd have to choose from the bottom of the EU barrel.

I hope the Iraqia are listening to Haas. He just described how this can be set up as an Iraqi failure. What an imoral fellow he is.
Cohen says we need to get the bureaucracy to do what it need to do. Ah, yes, bureaucracy is the answer.
What we need actually is more killing of the bad guys and we don't seem to be willing to do that.

Morning Morgan!
Maybe we will in two years.
Only if we get our act together.
I participated in several Rudy/McCain/ other candidates thread this week and I am still amazed at the lack of cohesiveness in our party!!
There are just too many Freepers who still have the losing 06 attitude of my way or the highway.
IMHO, our best bet is to nominate or push Conservative candidates every chance we get at every level of govt. But, when election time comes, we better start looking at how the rats win!
It's not by adopting the my way or the highway attitude!!
My guess is the new 60 rat blue dogs probably have little in common with the "cair" illegal alien coalition or the gay coalition within the rat party. Yet they are smart enough to come together when it's time to vote.
We need to rip that page of their play book out and study it if we want to win in 08.
It's great to have Conservative values and we all do but it's still better to win.

Good smackdown today, Brit to Juan: So, do you accept the goal, like everyone else does (a secure Iraq, able to defend itself, sustain itself and govern itself)? Or do you only support the goal if its easy? Juan is truly an idiot "We broke it we own it", and talks about how much of a failure....Brit reminds him of the constitution, the elections, etc. Juan replies by saying "we caused the sectarian violence"...egads, the man is an idiot. The camera's didn't pan to Brit's face when Juan said this, but I would assume Brit was just rolling his eyes and shaking his head in disgust at Juan's ignorance.

In a way, this is good. I think that many, many folks have indeed seen the ISG as the Iraq Surrender Group, and the media blitz is to try to stem the idea that the study focuses too much on withdrawal and defeat. I also think it won't work, because folks are smart enough to see through the BS and conclude the study is fundementally flawed.
Well 3 former cabinet level members of GOP administrations --Baker--Meese--Eagleberger--were members of the ISG
Anybody read or hear of DISCENTING opinions from these three
Democrats going to be howling """BIPARTISAN""" for all they are worth
and the MSM media will be doing the same
What an embarrassment

Thanks Rod, maica. About Kagan, she knows how media will play if she mention about Rush. Otherwise, I thought she reflected conservative to me.
