The Talk Shows
Sunday, December 10th, 2006
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Former Secretary of State James A. Baker III and former Rep. Lee Hamilton, D-Ind., co-chairmen of the Iraq Study Group; Sens. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., and Sam Brownback, R-Kan.; composer Marvin Hamlisch.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Baker and Hamilton.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Baker and Hamilton; Sens. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and Trent Lott, R-Miss.
THIS WEEK (ABC): British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Sens. Joe Biden, D-Del., and Gordon Smith, R-Ore.; actor Ed Asner.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Baker and Hamilton; Reps. Christopher Shays, R-Conn., and Jane Harman, D-Calif.; Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, leader of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution of Iraq; Israeli Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres.
These are the same people who complained that the US should have kept Saddam Hussein's army intact (sort of like having Himmler and Goering run the German defense force in 1946) after the fall of Iraq.
If those pesky media types keep asking Mr. Hamilton to justify that report with his name on it, well, that's just not acceptable. I'm sure the media will receive a retraining memo from the DNC this week on the protocol for accepting the report verbatim.
Just like computer programming mistakes - Garbage in, Gospel out.
Sorry, but I'll have to pass on the 'opportunity' to view that stuff.
Pulled the plug on my cable/satellite TV service a couple of years ago, which effectively means that I have no home TV 'service'. And absolutely intend to remain in that state.
I would therefore have to impose on my neighbor to watch those programs on his setup, and his wife has imposed a ban on the two of us after the Gunny and I almost wrecked the place while watching the last politically agenda-driven programming we were allowed to watch. (His old flak jacket won't stretch to cover his new wide screen.)
the same dozen or so US Senators whose combined IQ is smaller then the average American's waist lineIt is unbelievable how stupid they are. You have to go to the EU to find anything more stupid, and even there you'd have to choose from the bottom of the EU barrel.
Baker's position seems to be that a report that is bi-partisan and unanimous is the end all and be all. He says others have not come forth with their prediction, other than McCain, for whom he has enormous respect (of course).
It is not true, btw, that others have not come forth with their prescriptions for victory.
Baker trying to explain "the American people have a serious problem with the situation in Iraq".
I would opine the "American people would have a much more serious problem with WMD, and or suicide car bombs going off in NYC, San Fran, DC, etc."
Now here 's this sunday's Media Nuggets
###### Naked Admission! Insulting the Military is morale-boost @ NBC! - "NBC News staffers got a morale boost last week when the network bigs opted to start calling the fighting in Iraq a 'civil war.' Peacock sources say the change in nomenclature...'vindicated the reporting' in Iraq and provided a boost to a group dispirited by weeks of layoffs..."
###### While all Cable & Broadcast networks carried Bush/Blair press conference live, with Katie Couric anchoring on CBS and Diane Sawyer anchoring on ABC, NBC - which lonely & arrogantly declared civil war in Iraq completely ignored it.
###### MSNBC's David Shuster Goes Bananas Over "Fruit Salad" Remark. Do you know MSNBC is celebrating Appreciation Week(!) now? Meanwhile, MSNBC will drop dead after 12 Noon ET on Sundays (no live broadcast after that.) :-).
###### David Gregory, Suzanne Malveaux - "Our Disgraceful Enemedia @ WH"
###### Clue-less Norah O-Duh-nell! - While discussing about the overnight abortion pill with NARAL abortion activist & Family Research Council's Pro-Life activist, she clearly SIDED with the abortion actiivist, even as she just became pregnant with TWIN babies.
###### Clue-less Enemedia! - "Iraqis Line Up to Put Hussein in the Noose" -> That 's NYT's headline! reporting how many angry Iraqis are lining up to personally execute Saddam Hussain. Meanwhile WH press corps pandering mercy for Saddam citing Tony Blair's opposition to death penalty.
###### Execs from the - NYTimes, Gannett and Washington Post - Unable to Predict their' own Future, while speculating about Country's.
###### Wishful thinking - Will Liberty Media John Malone's ouster from News Corp. bring Fox to it's Conservative base? May be.
###### Time mag. concedes -It was a signal moment in the war between the Bush White House and the media.
###### Media Stocks - Could Take a Hit in 2007.
###### Vivendi to Sell Stake in NBC, as NBC struggles to improve ratings and advertising sales.
###### From Not Interested to Fastest Ratings Gain - Broadcasting & Cable interviews Glenn Beck.
###### Bob Schieffer flirting with Jessica Simpson to the amusement of - Karl Rove.
###### Chris Wallace = 0, Wolf Blitzer = 1 - Rick DiBella was supervising producer for Fox News Sunday for the last 10 years. Chris Wallace fired him when he indicated lack of balance in FNS guests lately. The next day CNN hired him as Senior Producer for "Situation Room" & "Late Edition" . (Foot note: When Clinton(got angry) aide wanted to stop recording during interview, it was Rick DiBella who refused to stop.)
###### Former CNN anchor Daryn Kagan - "I've definitely become a more spiritual person in the last few years .........just looking for greater meaning and powers outside of ourselves. That's also something that's never talked about in the secular media . In a regular newsroom, you do not do a story that mentions God, unless it's something horrendous, like a priest molesting a little boy" -> talks to LATimes.
Baker is a fool
Brownback is on and is TOTALLY for talking to Iran and Syria. Says we've spent enough time there and its time to get out.
Is this new?
ABC This Week thisweek@abc.com
I guess it is i really don't know about Brownback to be honest with you
Good morning everyone. Congratulations to last weeks winners too. Thanks again for the effort, especially to AB for getting this posted.
Haas apparently sees this as a set up so we can blame failure on the Iraqia, and he is okay with this.

Gee, anita, do you think there is any connection between these two events:
showing an angry Clinton, and getting the boot.
Eliot Cohen on MTP........a voice of reason. Tells all about how the ISG spent 4 days in Baghdad with only Robb venturing beyond the Green Zone.
I hope Snerdly was watching 7-7:45 today. It was open phones, but they spent most of the time on the topic of the "anti-ISG" critics and how people think about what Rush Limbaugh and all are saying about the report. Calling it "stupid", etc.
I'm sure he'd enjoy those too.
