Carter: Universities blocked book promo
JTA ^ | December 9, 2006

Posted on 12/09/2006 2:49:04 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

Jimmy Carter said universities with substantial Jewish enrollment have blocked him from discussing his book “Palestine: Peace not Apartheid.”

“My most troubling experience has been the rejection of my offers to speak, for free, about the book on university campuses with high Jewish enrollment and to answer questions from students and professors,” Carter said in an Op-Ed published Friday in the Los Angeles Times. The former U.S. president made a similar charge in a C-Span interview earlier this week; asked to elaborate, he would not name the universities, except to say he was invited by individual professors, but turned down by the universities’ leadership.

Carter’s book, which blames most of the impasse in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks on Israel’s settlement policy, is a New York Times No. 1 bestseller, and he has promoted it in multiple media appearances.

It was James Baker III or Bakr abu Chamberlain as I like to call him that said "F**k the Jews, they didn't vote for us."

The occasion was Bush the Elder refusing US loan guarantees for the underwriting of an Israeli bond issue, causing Israel and Israeli tax payers to incur higher costs as a means of putting pressure on the Israeli government over settlement policies. Personally I don't think the US Treasury should be in the business of underwriting other governments bonds.

As far as settlements and relations with their un-neighborly neighbors goes I think the Israelis should have conquered and expelled from the surrounding territories any persons or populations that present a threat to the survival of the Israeli state and no, I don't mean the example of the Balkans in the '90s, that was extermination.

It was her enemies that made the appeal to arms as a means of resolving differences with Israel, they will never leave her in peace and will certainly never love her.

Population exchanges and relocations work, one of the reasons Germany doesn't have outstanding minorities issues with her neighbors today. The allied governments said OK, Germans have lived on these territories since the Middle Ages and before but their presence now constitutes a threat to the peace and stability of the region, enough is enough, they're moving.
Well that's my 2 cents worth.

PS

Agreed that Jimmah is a worthless little piece of execretory by-product.

If only Ford had known how to eat a tamale--Carter would never have been inflicted on our country.

Oh please. What university does NOT have a substantial Jewish population??

Most, if not all of them.

Jews are only 2% of the US population. Even if all of them go to university it would be impossible for them comprise more then 10% of the college going population. (27% of the general population has graduated from college).

Of course 10% can be considered substantial if they present a unified front but that is rare with any group.

I don't suppose the press would cover it, but I'd love to see a debate between Jimmuh and that professor who just severed his ties with him because he said that he couldn't work any longer for a lying, anti-semitic plagiarizer.

I agree with much of that.

I've personally been involved in organizing a couple of FReeps, and was our spokesman to the media in both of them. One was a Cynthia McKinney protest, and the other was at one of Hillary's "Lying History" book signings.

In both cases, if we hadn't been there, only their messages would have gotten through on the evening and late news. Instead, people also heard a well-thought-out sound bite from the opposing side. We need more of that. It's tough, though as Republicans tend to mostly all have full time jobs.

This is true. A lot is at stake, maybe one day we will put that ahead of other interests. I am no different than any one else. Have to pay the bills. However, the other side mounts a relentless opposition, the people see this. Right here on FR, people gripe because the leaders are weak, pathetic weenies. I guess we can't have it both ways.

Actually, it is someone ELSE who is charging plagarism.

Jimmah's former associate at the Carter Center resigned because he charged that Jimmah JUST MADE STUFF UP and put it in the book.

Carter is irrelevant. He's apparently becoming increasingly senile and no longer embarrassing the country, but also himself. Painful to watch.

Every time I think if how short life is I'm reminded that there is a reason for that.

When will his family realize he should be raising yorkies and orchards instead of making a damned fool of himself before the world?

This should come as not surprise. Jimmah's long time aide has charged that his book is plagiarized

What worries me about that statement is?? Who would write such crap and claim it other than Carter?, A man who was educated way past his intelligence.

I know how he feels. I made an offer to perform liposuction, free of charge, my neighbor and she declined. Sure, I'm not a doctor, but my rates are low. Her husband wouldn't let me install their new gas furnace either. So I don't have any training as a plumber; I'll work for free.

politics is relative. Compared to Carter Ford did little harm. Of course he wasn't in the job very long. Ford was not as much of an human rights pacifist like Carter. So I think on issues like the Panama Canal, the Iranian situation and economic policy he would have been better. I remember those days well and voted for Ford only because the other choice was Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy has always been anti-semitic. Before it simply got lost in all the other dross he disgorged. Now that he's older and has less to say it's much more noticeable.

No, that`s a pic that`s been around for quite some time, since the `90`s I believe. It`s when Hellary was addressing her soul mates, I mean the GLAD crowd. Gay Lesbian Advocates and Defenders. Remember, the only parade she consistently marches in every year here in New York is the gay pride parade. She may march once or twice in the St. Pattys day parade every few years, the Colombus parade, but you can bet everything she will march in the Gay Pride parade every single year. She never misses it.
