Half the price and a slightly longer barrel. There's also enough add-ons for the SKS to make it as useful and handy as an AK.

Looks like it will be a case of unrequited love on my part...as it's listed as just available for "Law Enforcement" and "Military".The F2000, yes. The FS2000, no!. Civilian-legal FS2000:

An AK chambered for 7.62X39 has the aproximate ballistics as grandad's Winchester 30-30.

Thanks for the FS2000 photo (that was probably what I actually saw on the
gun mag cover).

I would have thought the 30-30 would be more powerful.
What about a M1 30 carbine?
To: 300winmag
If that's the gun I think it is, you got a picture of one with an unusual fore stock. dont' those things normally have a thumbhole forestock?

The clip is curved because the 7.62x39 ammo is tapered.Load this ammo in a straight clip and the only point of contact between rounds would be at the base of cartridge.A sure way to get jams in the clip.

This is the second story in recent weeks about the AK. No doubt it is a anti-gun book since it is on C-SPAN.
There is a pattern developing here ... stories about (speak softly ... assault weapons). These stories are attempts to soften the public up and get them on board with the next Assault Weapons Ban legislation that I'm sure we will see introduced in congress before Easter.
Mark my words there will be more of these types of stories and TV shows will start ramping up the violence with bad guys using assault weapons (which there is no such thing ... there are only rifles and revolvers and pistols).

I read somewhere once that used AK47s in africa go for about $10 american. That's about right. They were free for the taking, so $10 is probably a month's wages.
A lot of American yachters (mostly liberals), will but cheap AK47s in Caribbean hellholes for protection against pirates. Stay in international waters, and take the runabout into port. Just before entering US waters, throw the weapons overboard. Cheap insurance.

I legally own an M-16.Very smooth in full auto mode and not much more difficult to handle than a 9mm subgun.

I wouldn't be suprised if this BookTV segment is simply a "Guns BAD" screed.
I posted so that folks could tune in and see if watching the show is
just an exercise in "opposition research" or if the book is even-handed.

AK's are not known for sterling accuracy, but I can assure you that with decent sights (something they don't come with) you can hit a pie plate at 100 yards every time with a bad AK, and you can hit a coke can at that distance with a good AK. Occasional misses are allowed for bifocals ;)

I agree completely. I expect another AWB quickly to reach the floor with the new Congress. This is why I've trying to talk the wife into buying another AK-47. They are great rifles for plinking.

Just think... Swiss citizens are *given* those to care for. Too bad the Swiss authorities don't extend that courtesy to immigrants (though nowadays, I can't really blame them...).

From some of the typical anti-AK posts here...there are still many that are either misinformed about the AK platform, or have a "problem" with the AK for other reasons.
Many US Special Forces choose an M-14 or AK over an M-16/M-4.
In 7.62mm x 51mm: FAL, M-14 or H&K... sweeeet!
In 7.62mm x 39mm: AK-47 or Valmet...ummmm tasty!
In 5.56mm x 45mm: IDF's Galil [an AK platform that shoots the .223] or Steyr AUG...droool!
What about the AK-74!
Need more gun porn!

Neat looking gun but I have to wonder what the quality of the trigger pull is like given that it is located so far in front of the action.
