Hillary may have the buzz, but Rudy has the better poll numbers - at least for now. A new WNBC/Marist College survey yesterday found that while Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is the most popular presidential option among Democrats, a whopping 47% of all voters say they would "definitely not" vote for the former First Lady if she runs for President in 2008. By contrast, a full two-thirds of voters say they remain open to voting for former Mayor Rudy Giuliani - who would best Clinton, 49% to 43%, if the 2008 race were held today. The numbers suggest that the Republican Giuliani - whose pre-9/11 record remains a blank to most voters - has room to grow, while Clinton begins with nearly half the electorate aligned against her, experts said.
"The bottom line is that there is very little room for error in a Hillary-for-President campaign," says Marist College pollster Lee Miringoff. Not that Giuliani is without challenges. The poll found that while Giuliani remains the top pick among GOP voters, a full 47% of those voters - when told that Giuliani is pro-choice, pro-gun control and pro-gay rights - say such issues could be a "major factor" in their eventual decision. Aides to Giuliani declined to comment on the numbers, but Clinton pollster Mark Penn argued that Clinton has consistently proven she can expand her base of supporters. "When she started in New York, many people said they'd never vote for her - and she just won reelection with 67% of the electorate," said Penn.

In an election between the Hildabeast and Rino Rudy, I can guarantee a liberal who opposes many of my values will get elected. That is the reason if those tow are left standin in 2008 I will go third party in a heartbeat.
Well said. Hopefully, there are enough people left in the USA who still understand the idea--that without national security few other things matter.
I don't don't doubt that they are different.
But Californians are patriotic as well. Just look at all the CA Freepers! :)
And what about the Country if Hillary is elected. Do you care more about the Party than about the Country?
Rudy's obnoxious liberal record----his gay rights and abortion worship is legendary. He used his Mayoral office to advance ultra-liberalism---even though he had no elective or legislative mandate to do so.
But Rudy is an obedient, one-trick pony. He'll do and say whatever his handlers think is necessary. Now that he got bit by the prez bug, Rudy is in the deny mode.
In fact, Rudy's taking notes on the Alec Baldwin "Shadow" movie----he's hoping he has the power to cloud men's minds so that every liberal thing he's ever done will be forgotten.
Obviously you have never been a party activist that knocked thousands of doors, made thousands of phone calls, put stickers on mailers, stamps on envelopes, and witnessed election after election with Republicans in the minority in the House election until 1994. People like me that go back to door knocking for Barry Goldwater as a charter member of the Ohio Teenage Republican Club don't take kindly to anyone that says they are not voting because of a candidate they don't agree with 100% of the time.
Some comments on here remind me of the 'kumbaya' crowd at a church I grew up in until I finally had it with their roll over and play dead to Communism because their social issues came first instead of defense of this Nation. Some things never change. It was a dangerous time in this world when I grew up with the nuclear arms race and it is a dangerous time today with the terrorist wanting to kill us and remove our way of life but social conservatives still tout their issues as the only issues around. Sitting here shaking my head.
If you can never vote for Rudy, fine, but to continually bait people like you and others are doing is what has drives people away and it is time to put back together the Reagan coalition with the big tent because 2008 will determine the path our Nation takes. We either elect a leader like Rudy who will stand up and take the war to the terrorists or we elect someone who wants to appease them because other issues are more important. I proudly stand with supporting Rudy, but I will work for and support the nominee of the Republican Party!
I think they understand about the WOT, but it is becoming clearer that they are here to bait all of us that do support a strong leader. Same people are hitting each thread with the same remarks.
When I answer back, I do it for the people that lurk on here who don't post much or not at all so they can understand that some of these 'my way or no way' crowd do not represent Republicans as a whole.
If you want to pull people back together why are you push a Rino who is so opposed by so many conservatives that the party will need in 2008? Rino Rudy will split the party and is unelectable.
Thank you.
I WISH he was unelectable, but these days it looks like real conservatives, in addition to being darn near impossible to find, are no longer electable. I think we conservatives are in for a long, depressing decade.
Then what's with the attitude? Obviously RG doesn't need the votes of the folks here who don't like him, so why are you and your friends getting so upset?
There are candidates who can and will do what rudy proposes, but are not liberals onthe social issues. Why is it Rudy gets so much support when he's a far-less than ideal candidate?
I think the real RINO's here are the 'my way or no way' crowd who threaten to vote for a 3rd party. I would love to see their voter registration the way several are spamming these threads. We used to have paid posters come on here and other sites from the Dims and I am beginning to get that same feeling. They pretend to be social conservatives, but to spend as much time as they do on here makes me wonder what they do for a living except be paid to be available to post on every Rudy thread. Ms. Clinton must be worried!
I work nights. And I am not a republican, I am a conservative indepenent.
I fail to understand how becoming more liberal makes one more conservative. Please explain that logic to me.
He was ruthless on crime when he was the Mayor of NY and brought back businesses and tourism as a result. The city before Rudy and after Rudy was very different.
And, don't forget how he made a point of attending every possible funeral after 911 while Hillary was giving lip service to the people of NY.
With the MSM picks for the GOP POTUS, there will be plenty of people screaming "If we don't elect a democrat with an R by their name, we will get a democrat with a D by their name.
This sure worked well the last election. /S
I see there is no convincing some. It looks like at least some conservatives will see Hillary in the WH rather than choose a candidate who is "imperfect" but can beat her. Unfortunately, for us -- the job of God is taken.
Thanks for your efforts. The 'my way or the highway' does get old after a bit. Until we all learn that while the second amendment, abortion, gay rights, civil rights and Roe vs. Wade are all important things to be concerned about, they are 'not the be all, end all'. National security and 'threats both foreign and domestic' trumps all. Without that security our rights and beliefs are going to go the way of the buggy whip.
