Frankly, I had ZERO expectations of this outcome and wish Commissions were outlawed because they are only OPINIONS of those ON the COMMISSION. Those chosen, like the 9/11 commission, were NONE that I respect and furthermore, they have NO CLUE as to terrorist war tactics. I'm fed up with retired generals, former SOCs, and everybody and their cousin claiming they KNOW what to do.
True, but I just want this to be finished successfully. This has been going on longer than World War II!!! That is unbelievable. If they would have bomed the heck out of the country like we did Japan we would be on to something else. I support the President but wish he would get on the move with this war.
Put the dang message on the billboard! Take out ads! Underwrite a major motion picture! Buy the dang New York Times!

I hope he does this after he receives the real report, the Pentagon report which I believe will be the new plan that the President will order to be followed. In regards to the Iraq Surrender Group shameful report, he will give it a lip service since it include things that we have been already doing or planning to do like training the Iraqi forces and speeding up the training. However the President will refuse the surrender terms in the Iraq Surrender Group report like leaving before the mission is complete, withdrawing the troops before victory, and holding direct talks with Iran and Syria on the expense of Israel or Lebanon or anything else.
OK, here you go—disagreement instead of suppression:
Our elected officials do what they PERCEIVE the population wants them to do. Our young men and women deserve better than AMERICANS that backseat drive, whine, complain and give up, all the while blaming it on somebody else.
It is far past time for the decent among us to stand up and take responsibility for this war DESPITE any failings by our elected officials. I can pretty much say that most of us believe they are severely human...and all that implies.
But you know what?
YOU are turning this into Viet Nam, while the rest of us on this thread are desperately trying to send a different message to our politicians to KEEP IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. YOU are not giving the elected officials the backbone, support and political cover it takes to win a war. YOU have given up...and in doing so force the politicians to give up as well.
TAKE SOME PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT IS HAPPENING AND CHANGE IT. Take the initiative to change the momentum. Do whatever it takes...instead of standing around reliving old glories and kvetching.
Now for the yelling part: If you can not do that, it's time to sit down and shut up and eat your cookies. Or a bunch of us "girls" will kick your....(I'm not going to say it because I might muss my hair.)
Amen. If we truly want to WIN this thing, we certainly do. Disagreement is one thing, trashing him is another.
Yet another hideous distortion of truth......to be expected.
Honorable deaths of honorable men and women are not denigrated by recognizing the honor of their mission.
You degrade the honor of our troops with every post. I will say this for the last time. Our military knows that they are in Iraq to keep Americans safe from terrorists. They know that they are killing and capturing the enemy, and protecting the American people from harm.
No armchair general feeling like a big shot in Internet anonymity can change the truth of what they have been and still are doing in Iraq.
I know your goal is to do that, but it won't work. Too many of us know what's really going on there from people who have been and still are defending our freedom in Iraq.
So do I. Lord, so do I.

That's what I'm always saying. It's not cut and run, it's get the damn job done, just like we did in WWll. We have more to lose if we don't win this one, much more.

You stated in your earlier post that it is over and you are wrongly assuming that President Bush is going to follow the surrender terms in the ISG report. You are the one who is doing a great disservice to our brave troops with your defeatist and surrender attitude.
There are many who have a vested interested in the failure of our mission in Iraq. Freepers included. George Will, Novak, and assorted other so called elite pundits. And let's not forget some of our talk show hosts who are no doubt gloating now.
No. Scott McClellan was the poor communicator and the reason for Tony Snow. President Bush made a very self-damaging decision in keeping McClellan on as long as he did.
When faced with tough issues, Reagan went over the heads of the media&press, speaking directly to the American people, and he was rewarded with success.
How did Reagan speak directly to the American people without the media&press?
I am home enough that I don't usually miss any of the President's speeches on anything.....IF the media covers it. The evening news that most Americans watch are edited and slanted - usually followed up by a democrat slandering the President.
I understand your admiration for Reagan. I cried buckets when he became ill and again when he died. I can still hear Mansions of the Lord in my head and know how fitting it was for him. He was one of a kind in a different time - which is why I do not understand those who believe Bush should be a Reagan clone....other than "those were the good ol days". Reagan didn't have a hot WOT going on after a 9/11. There is really no clear way to compare the two.
There are violent neighborhoods in America's inner cities. Murders nightly, drug dealing, robberies, firebombing of homes. Do you suggest we bomb those neighborhoods to save the innocent people who live there?
Yes indeed. "I told you so" is a blinding emotion for all of us.
