Ladies and gentlemen of Free Republic:

The Manhattan FReeper Happy Hour is back, and FReepers in the NY/NJ area are once again invited to participate. Don't let our classy new logo intimidate you -- these are "come-as-you-are" events, and no black tie is required!

We will meet when we can in Manhattan, after workdays or on weekends, for a pint, a burger, a soda, or whatever you fancy. Friendship is the purpose, and we will meet where prices are low to reasonable to accommodate as many as possible. Each event will begin with cocktails/beverages (drop-ins welcome) and continue with food (R.s.v.p. requested).

History: We began the MFHH after September 11, 2001 to support each other and build friendships during a difficult time. Our two meetings were at O'Lunney's and Rive Gauche, in Sept. and Oct. 2001. Cacique posted pictures afterwards and we got some nice comments. Everyone expressed they had a very good time.

To be notified of events, FReepmail Silly, or e-mail freepersilly(a)mac.com, or bookmark and subscribe to this blog. If you'd like to host events when I am unable to, please be my guest and let me know the details. I'll maintain a ping list and keep the group notified.

Let's do two events right away in December -- one next week (week of Dec. 11) and one the week after (week of Dec. 18). I realize the holidays are busy, so please FReepmail me your preferred days and I'll try to book them soon so people can have time to plan. Whether we are five or fifty, I guarantee you a good time.

I'm looking forward to meeting many old and new friends.

Still being,

Silly

p.s. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and everyone Wang Chung!

You are the original 85 FReepers on the ping list from five years ago. I realize many of you many not be around, or may have moved, so please feel free to let me know if you don't want to be pinged. You will stay on this list until you opt out.

I will also ping everyone in the New York list twice (only), with a request that they reply to me if they would like to be included. This group will fall off the list unless they opt in.

Please help me spread the word. Looking forward, folks!

Sillly

You can keep me on the list but I don't know if I will be able to attend.

Sounds good.

I'm away on the 12th and 19th. A "midtown" location is best for me.

Thanks for organizing this. I hope I can join you.

Wow! Five new members in as many minutes. At this rate, I'll need to book Madison Square Gardens!

Thanks, I created it this morning. Five minutes after I added it to my newly-created blog, someone commented on it!

Sometimes God just decides to inspire. It was fun to make.

Please include me on your list, Silly. It's a bit of a haul into the city, but I do get in periodically and would try to bend things to make it.

I'm pinging to invite you to the Manhattan FReeper Happy Hour (see details above). FReepmail me or bump this thread to join the list.

You will receive one more ping later in the week. Unless you opt into the ping list, that will be the last ping I send.

I realize many of you are in upstate NY; if you cannot join, feel free to disregard. Well wishers are welcome on the thread, but please make sure I know not to add you, if that is your desire.

Kind regards,

Silly
