Live on cable now...
That was an overreaching and nutty statement for her (or any of them to make). Thank the Lord she is gone from the Supreme Court, at least.
"Started with the swimmer .... Teddy Kennedy and never stopped."
Hey, Ted! You lost to Jimmy Carter! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I don't know.....when a committee runs the military....
Ollie was just interviewing a soldier....I'm sitting here in tears. The politicians and the press have taken over this war and our brave military are their pawns. Just like Vietnam. God help us.
There is something wrong. It's not right to view a record of failures by the this administration and blame everyone but the ones responsible (the media, the left, space aliens, whoever). Let our leaders bear responsibility for their actions. Regardless of political affiliation it is your duty as a citizen of the great United States of America to hold your leaders accountable. The Bush administration screwed up horribly and that's that.
"All we need to do to win is to remain steadfast and persevere."
Amen to that.
Why sould my family sacrifice anymore...just send my son home now.
1- We are not "building" a nation. The nation of Iraq already exists. We are helping the Nation form a new government. And there is nothing "PC" about it as the hysterical hostility of the Left clearly shows.
2- Mookie will get his when the time comes. I don't think he will be around a year from now. Already rumors of his death are being circulated. They are just a little ahead of reality. And, in any case, he is not that big a problem.
Someone needs to tell her "Oh, we agree Senator Boxer, and we plan on being just as cooperative and helpful as you were during the past 6 years"
Wasn't Bush given a copy of this report yesterday? If so, his silence and that of the WH team haven't uttered a word against it IIRC. Wonder why?
Who's been getting hummers from interns that needs to find them a job at American Express?
The Middle East dilemma is much too complex for any one nation to deal with, IMHO. We and the UK have taken on almost the entire burden.
What's the answer? There is no good answer. The situation is absolutely untenable for the following reasons:
1) When the chips are down, Iraqi politicians are not committed to union, and they are not committed to stopping insurgents and militia infecting their sectarian groups. They may simply be too intimidated to clean up their own trash at this point.
2) Syria has acted with impunity in providing haven for terrorists on their side of the border. Our unwillingness to take the battle to the most immediate aiders and abettors provides a massive psychological boost to the enemy and their patrons.
3) Ahmadinejad and his puppet al-Sadr have effectively made the Shiite south an appendix of Iran. A stealth invasion, if you will. Without a single soldier, Iran can funnel money, arms, terrorists, what-have-you into a region already in chaos.
4) Boots on the ground. We simply don't have enough to impose order across Iraq. A draft is political kryptonite, so the politicians have already decided that we're not willing to do what is necessary to win this war. And don't think for one second that our unwillingness to conscript soldiers isn't seen as a societal weakness of America. They see us as AFRAID, and lacking backbone in the end.
5) Iran, Syria, and Turkey. The only partition of Iraq could come if/when the U.S. leaves. With the paucity of leadership from Maliki, et al., it would not be improbable for Iraq to eventually be divided as follows - Iran in the south, Syria in the north, and the Turks in Kurdistan, with Baghdad as a quasi-Berlin split between Syria and Iran. Really, after we leave, there's nothing standing in the way of these groups casting lots for control of Iraq.
So, we have a nation that doesn't want to be a nation, we have foreign governments fueling the chaos with impunity, and a political apparatus here in the United States that believes the population will not tolerate a draft.
Yeah. I do feel your despair.
You have GOT to be kidding me. Did you even watch it? This was NOT intended to body massage public pain over the war. This is an attempt to go behind our President's back. Did you not hear O'Connor?
Are you ignorant of the recommendations made concerning Iran and Israel in this report?
Oh, and they started off by slamming "stay the course", so that dog don't hunt.
Hey now, it was productive for Monica Lewinsky. After all, Vernon Jordan got her a job at Revlon.....
Exactly. It appears to be a televised, politically correct attempt at national suicide. I hope and pray that the President will save us from this and do the right thing. There is still hope.
I'm listening to Rush
I was wrong earlier .. it wasn't Major Garrett that asked the good question .. it was the guy from CNN
