Live on cable now...
Golan Heights. Give to Syria.
Unreal.
Jim Baker...is all that I remember...and WORSE.
Send this group on a hunting trip with Dick Cheney!
I disagree with that statement.
This is a HUGE event....the MSM will take the "IRAQ SURRENDER" study group report and hammer it home 24/7.
The DAMAGE to our MILITARY morale and to our nation is JUST STARTING, it will get worse because the ENEMY will know it is ONLY a matter of time before we withdraw and the ENEMY within now has a noose around George Bush's neck, provided by the Iraq Surrender Group, and they will steadily tighten it until the US leaves Iraq without accomplishing it's MISSION.
This is a day that will live in infamy, IMHO!
And that is just what the President will do.
Okay, but I wasn't referring specifically to the Study Group. I was referring to the state of the U.S. in general. The Democrats and the American Left seem to me to be incapable of learning anything about government, foreign policy, or economics. So the country survives in spite of them.
Pr(e)sident Bush
Doesn't really matter. There isn't a leader in that group so it doesn't matter what they're calling for. Who in their right mind would follow anyone on that panel?
If this report is implemented, the sacrifices of our military and their families will have been for nothing.....I am just sick!!!
"I am feeling very "parallel universe" here."
I've been there since the Rumsfeld resignation was announced and accepted. If there's a light at the end of this tunnel that isn't an oncoming train, I don't know what it could be.
I agree with your assessment, they played right into the hands of the DEM far-left.
There was no "giving" of Eastern Europe to the Soviets. There were 10 million Soviet troops there that we could do NOTHING about. Americans were NOT going to support a war against our Soviet ally for making sure it would not be invaded again from the West.
Don't mistake comments in the Patton movie for reality.
Have you ever visited the TB2K website?
The media's answering her call. Local news at noon started right off with video of Baker slamming the President's stay-the-course position. They followed that up with a story on how you can get your hands on a copy of this report because it's going to be available in book form. Oh, and now we've got a story about how many soldiers have died in Iraq.
And this is the freaking upstate of south carolina!
LOL!
Why would anyone want to join our military (voluntarily) if this is the kind of backing you get from the people back home.
Mol, I have not read all the comments on this thread, but it seems to me that people are misunderstanding what is actually represented by this report.
It is a nothing more than a consensus of opinion, and pretty much summarizes what we have been doing, what we are doing, and some of the things we have begun to do recently, in regard to embedding, and the potential to draw down combat support as Iraqi units become more effective.
The Neo-con's view this as a disastrous report, and their candidate, John McStain has been the leader on their side with bozo Krystal as the primary mouthpiece. they advocate the Powell doctrine of overwhelming force, to win a military war that has already been won. Their advocacy of more troops will simply turn the civil strife against American troops rather than against sectarian division, and as soon as we remove ourselves from the battlefield to stop the bleeding, they will return to fighting each other.
The element required to correct this nightmare in Iraq is very simply stated as TIME. It will take time to develop cadres of leadership, both in the new Iraqi military and in the new government.
This report, with only one exception of the regional conference of neighboring nations, is a series of things that are already underway, in the works, or on the board to do.
I could call it the "stay the course" document, and it is largely informative and represents little or no change in policy or strategy.
It really is just a body massage for the public pain over this misunderstood war. I do hope it helps some in that regard, but there is nothing in it that is new. If it helps to get some more public support for what we are doing, then it has done it's job.
Barbara Boxer on Fox now saying "I think it's time that we all work together." We KNOW what that means....their way or the highway.
