NEW YORK -- Peace activist Cindy Sheehan, who protested the Iraq war by camping outside President Bush's Texas ranch, went on trial with three other women Tuesday on charges of trespassing at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

The women tried to deliver an anti-war petition with 70,000-plus signatures to mission officials on March 6.

I'm a native Missourian, but I can see a silly flame war between people who ought to be friends. Nopardons, it's easy to see why you'd be offended--not everyone in NY is liberal, it's wrong to generalize that way. JMT, I'm on your side because Missouri is a wonderful state with some great conservatives in it. Cobra, let's not be silly about "cause" and "thank yous" (perfectly legitimate colloquial talk, and the plural of "thank you").

Let's be friends. I like all of you, and have enjoyed reading your posts over years, esp. nopardons.

Can we shake ehands? NY needs flyover country, flyover country needs NY. We have more in common than we have differences, and even though we're crabby, we're good people.

I do so appreciate your comments. This whole thread started out with my comment on Cindy going to jail over trespassing at the UN. My comment was strictly about CINDY and UN. Others took protective exception like I had deliberately stepped on their toes.

Now I do not think what has been slurred at me had any intent to be any resemblance of jokes. That is fine, because I got a good look see into who some of the people are preaching down to me about who is whom and what is what. Sometimes it is good to learn who people really are.
