Hi all,

A dear friend of my wife's and mine is very sick. She has a lung disease that no one can figure out. Her doctors at UCLA have said they have never seen anything like this. The symptoms most closely resemble rheumatoid and lupus, I guess. She's 28, and has emphysema, but has never smoked, nor lived with a smoker.

She is on the verge of being put on the lung transplant list, but at her age, her immune system might be too strong for new lungs. Here is the link to her blog if you want to learn a bit more about her situation.

Her name is Julie, and she is an inspiration to my family. Over the last 18 months, she has grown closer to the Lord, and her husband, Manuel, has grown much stronger, as well.

Her lung capacity is rapidly declining (under 30%). Please pray for Julie, Manuel, and their daughters. And especially for wisdom forher medical team.

Pulmonary fibrosis could be result from many different diseases, like sarcoidosis...I hope they can nail it.

You might also suggest they look into something that sounds like sarchoidosis. It presents with the lung problems and seemingly auto-immune issues you describe.

Unto You, O Lord, we return with praise and thanksgiving, for in Your Hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:10.

Be for Julie the very breath she needs while she awaits a diagnosis. Bring forth the information that is needed by her medical team, that they would be guided by You unto a complete restoration of health. Thank You that Julie and her husband walk secure in Your Saving Grace, yet may it be, Merciful Father, that she would remain to nurture her daughters unto their own children. Strengthen Manuel as he ministers to his beloved wife and children ... may he continually know the Comfort of Your Presence and the Promises of Your Word.

Thank you, everyone. I told Julie about the prayers, and she thanks you all, too. She also had never heard of histoplasmosis, so she will be asking her doctor about that.
