Iran welcomes Chavez victory as win against US

Iran hailed on Monday the presidential election victory of fellow US foe Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, saying it reflected Latin America's opposition to Washington's "arrogant attitudes".

Chavez was re-elected by a landslide on Sunday, handing him an ample mandate to broaden his promised socialist revolution and challenge US influence in Latin America. He is the fourth leftist to win an election in the region in the past five weeks.

"The victory of freedom seekers and independent characters in Venezuela and Latin America indicates the growing tendency of the people in that region to be really independent and keep their distance from the American arrogant attitudes," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said.

"Holding peaceful and calm presidential elections in Venezuela, with a huge turnout, in a free and competitive atmosphere satisfied the Islamic Republic of Iran's government and nation," he said in a faxed statement.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Venezuela in September, cementing increasingly close ties between the two US foes, both big oil producers in the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Chavez visited Iran in July.

Iran established an Islamic republic after a 1979 revolution that ousted the US backed Shah. Chavez says he presides over a revolution to end US influence in Venezuela.

Chavez controls the voting equipment. Come to think of it, the Venezuelan equipment was used here in 2006.

"Chavez controls the voting equipment. Come to think of it, the Venezuelan equipment was used here in 2006."

And that will be used when Hellery runs in '08. I'll bet she gets 105% of the vote.

It seems the only way to remove a Leftist or Islamist from office -- is feet first.

The time has come for America to set aside its "white hat" and get down and dirty with the Turd World bastards trying to kill us.

The Turd World will NEVER love us -- no matter how much we do for them or how easily we allow them to butcher us, so we might as well do what we can to force them by fear of consequences to behave themselves.

Right. And I welcome the Florida Gator victory as a win against prostate cancer.

That actually was the policy up until the mid-1970s! It all got started under Teddy Roosevelt. He instituted what he called the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine which called on the USA to exercise "police power" in Latin America.

If this was 1973, someone like Chavez would have been killed off before he could ever have assumed office.

The Venezuelans who have money and brains have moved to Florida and probably elewhere. I guess that will make America more arrogant and Venezuela dumber than a box of rocks.

The real thing to worry about is that Hugo has been invited to dine with the devil. Islam in South America?

Didn't Saddam get 99.9% of the vote in his last election? I wonder if Castro voted for Chavez by absentee ballot.
