The first Air Force Phantoms in Vietnam were F-4Cs from 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron Triple Nickel which arrived in December 1964. Unlike the Navy, the Air Force initially flew its Phantoms with a pilot rather than a radar intercept officer (RIO), later called weapon systems officer (WSO), in the back seat and all aircraft retained dual flight controls. USAF F-4Cs scored their first victory against a Vietnamese MiG-17 on 10 July 1965 using AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles.
On 31 January 1972, the 170th Tactical Fighter Squadron/183d Tactical Fighter Group of Illinois Air National Guard became the first Air National Guard unit to transition to Phantoms.

Thanks. I would have missed this one. We need more dimwits in the demorat party like him. Might eventually pursuade some to wake up and think just who they elect into office.

Kerry isn't good enough to lick the boots of any soldier or suck dry the perspiration on their uniforms.
I believe he hates the military because when he looks at our best and brightest, he knows he's the smallest and dumbest.

IMHO, this nation owes a great debt of gratitude to the Swiftboat vets.
You bet. They were effective. I just wish more people in his state listened. He shouldn't be in any elected office and it's outrageous that a man such as him is a United States Senator.

Were you at the game? Are tickets to the Army-Navy game generally difficult to get?
We had tix for the Air Force-Army game at West Point on 11/3/06, but didn't end up going at the last minute...
We did go to the VMI vs Army game at West Point on October 7th, 2006. It was a lot of fun sitting next to the cadets! :o)

Tix are difficult to get. Even if you order as soon as they are available.
