"But he also said Cuba was disposed to negotiate with the United States about their differences, which Dan Erikson of the Washington think tank Inter-American Dialogue said "marks a significant departure from Fidel's long-standing preference for conflict and confrontation."

Most analysts have said they expect Raul Castro, 75, to undertake gradual economic reforms to address discontent among ordinary Cubans who earn an average of just $15 a month."

Simply stated: they want America to pay Cuba's bills and and rebuild the pest hole Castro made of Cuba.

Yesterday, the CBS radio reporter in Cuba had been upbeat about the big anniversary, very eager to hear Castro speak.

Today, she sounded completely heartbroken and depressed when Castro was a no-show.

So much for the impartial media...

Wrong.. He has brain washed the people for decades..
Will take a hundred years for Cubans to recover, intellectually..

The Russians and Chinese may never recover since they have never known or had freedom at all ever.. They have always known only Mob Rule.. Democracy(being Mob Rule) is no advance politically or intellectually..

Yes, we'll pay the bills and Wall Street tycoons will reap the rewards.

Sad news indeed for the Liberals, The New York Times, and European Socialists, but exceptionally great news for those who care about the extension of human liberty. Like the coming death of Saddam, Castro's death will change the dynamic. The Liberals and the other sympathizers of Castro can shed all the tears they like, but the poor people of Cuba will be overjoyed.

Remember how a BBC reporter wept when that vile POS Arafat died? These people have no moral authority, yet they report the news as if they're so superior to the ordinary person who knows the difference between right and wrong.

Quick, send Raul some "cigars".

I don't think it's a cigar Raul will be sucking on to celebrate, if you catch my drift.

If Raul is smart, he'll ditch the communism and cut a deal with the USA. Trade, development, and tourism will flood into Cuba, making him and his cronies wealthy beyond their wildest dreams.

I have a theory that Fidel Castro does not have cancer after all. Mr. Castro suffers from intestinal bleeding because for years the leftist American media have been brown-nosing him a little too deeply.
