White House 2006 Holiday Theme Is "Deck the Halls and Welcome All"
Holidays at the White House 2006
"Deck the Halls and Welcome All"
Mrs. Laura Bush announced "Deck the Halls and Welcome All" as the theme for the 2006 holiday season at the White House today. This year's sparkling decorations reflect the joys of the season and recall historic holiday memories at the White House.
Over the years, the White House has been the scene of many beloved Christmas memories. Throughout our nation's history, presidents and their families have welcomed many guests to the White House for yuletide affairs both merry and momentous.
Traditional and elegant decorations adorn the White House this year. Garlands with brightly colored glass ornaments cascade over doorways on the State Floor, with snowy greens, spiral topiaries and red ribbons decorated throughout the White House. The color schemes of scarlet, crimson and fuchsia boldly accent the traditional touches of the holiday decorations.
The official White House Christmas tree occupies most of the Blue Room. The 18 foot Douglas fir was grown by Francis and Margaret Botek and their children at the Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. This year's tree twinkles with crystals and ornaments of iridescent glass.
Each guest visiting the White House will receive a tour book illustrated by Pamela Carroll from Carmel, California.

We received this year's Christmas card from the White House, and while I don't remember whether it wishes people a Merry Christmas, there is a scripture verse prominently displayed in the card.
...except that jackass Jim Webb, that is.
It reads: "May the light of the season shine bright in your heart now and in the new year"
And I wasn't the slightest bit offended. It was completely filled with class...and gave recognition to everyone regardless of their religious beliefs.
Do you think Jim Webb got a WH Christmas card?
"Deck the Halls and Welcome All" (the illegal aliens)
It's a beautiful card and I have pity for those who continue on with their angry rants and dissatisfaction with all things President Bush.
I'm sure it won't be long before even the white house is prevented from celebrating ANY thing Christian - speration of church and state and all that nonsense. http://sacredscoop.com
I received my card today,
I see you did not read the article you posted.
They actually said it twice in this rather short article.

You bet, because unlike Webb, President Bush has class.
I would like to have seen them use the phrase "Peace to men of goodwill". Sends the right message and anybody who argues about it is admitting that they aren't "of goodwill".
THERE'S A DAMN CHRISTMAS TREE THERE...it's never enough for you guys. I truly do think some of you ONLY WANT Christmas celebrated...You know what? TOUGH.
lol hopefully your being sarcastic- but In case not- that wasn't even the point of my post- The ACLU WILL be targeting the white house celebrations claiming the government is 'promoting religion'- Calm down-
Maybe some did not get the Christmas card which has a Biblical verse. But it would not have been the verse *they* would have chosen. Must suck to be them.
Please share the biblical verse with us.
"The word is a lamp unto my feet and a light into my path" from the book of Psalms.
Be honest, you remember very well that it DOESN't mention Christmas. Clinton stopped the mentioning of Christmas on White House "Holiday" cards, and Bush has followed his example.
Get real. The only "holiday" that is celebrated by the entire nation in December with a day off (a FEDERAL holiday) is Christmas. Yet PC dictates that Bush not even mention the name of this holiday in his Christmas card. Us "guys" who have a problem with this, are people who dislike suffocating PC that denies America's cultural heritage and is fundamentally dishonest. It's dishonest to talk about "holidays" when the only real holiday in December is Christmas. Hanukka is a minor day on the Jewish calendar. Kwanza is fake. They're both elevated by the PC crowd to give people who loathe America's heritage an excuse to say that the word "Christmas" should be censored out of our conversation and out of our Christmas cards. I have a problem with militant political correctness, and I have a problem with Bush for buying into it.
Amen.
