Sorry I wasn't around much tonight. Much to do. G'night!
Thank you Purple! Good to see you!
Congratulations on the new baby in the family I hope your niece recovers quickly from the C Section and is able to come to the family vacation.
Now I really am off.
I too thought he retired. Maybe he came out of retirement to make one of his excellent gingerbread houses??
PASTRY CHEF RETIRES AFTER 25 YEARS
Not only did he retire, but he also wrote a book called "President's Pastries" which was published in JuneHe came out of retirement to do the gingerbread house this year, which is an argument against the old saying "No one is irreplaceable"...
Thank you for the information. The book probably has delicious recipes in it, but since I'm "watching what I eat" (i.e. "dieting" :-(, I won't tempt myself by buying it.
Y w! Good to *see* you too!
"Seek .. what an incredible honor for your nephew. Congrats to you and your family. What is his field .. and the accomplishment for which he won? And ... he is SO young .. very impressive."
Thank you! We are so very proud of Craig! He has worked so very hard on his research and he and Dr. Fire have come up with a process in RNAi gene silencing that will be very helpful in finding cures to diseases. Craig is only 45 and has many more years of great research ahead of him, which is what he loves to do. My sister and brother-in-law have raised four wonderful children, and Craig's accomplishments have made us all so very proud!
wow - that top toaster is fabulous! Keep it handy - I'll want one someday...cub
Pinging you to a very late Friday Dose update. Sorry it's so late. I got home late from work to find that the cops had all the streets near where I live closed off. They were looking for some miscreant who had stolen a car and who was believed to have a gun. I couldn't get to my street and had to sit in my car for around an hour.

...and First Lady -- both looking tired and drawn in these photos, in my opinion.
Good grief Wolfstar - that's not a very comfy feeling to come home from work and find cops in the neighborhood, eh?
Nope. They had streets for many blocks all around closed off. Wouldn't let the residents into the neighborhood at all. Other folks who had been on the sidewalks longer than me said it had been going on for over an hour before I pulled up. Sigh.
One young woman waiting with me just got home from work too. She works at one of the hospitals in this area. Her baby was home with her husband, and she was frightened for the baby even though her husband was home. She forgot her cell phone that morning, so she borrowed a phone from another person who was waiting.
A guy who had been up since 3:00am because he was pulling a double shift was sitting forelornly on his hard hat.
I totally understand why the cops have to close things off while they look for such scumbags, and am grateful for the job they do. But it sure isn't fun hanging around with no place to go while they have dozens of blocks closed off.
Oh, well. I'm home safe and sound, and that's what counts.
I see you thought the same about the First Lady
Awww...I'm glad you finally got home.
