On this poll you are part of the "crank" minority.

Of a self-selecting online poll with a sample size of less than 2000 to represent a population of 300M?

So the point is that the canard that Mexicans are only taking US jobs no-one wants is bulsh**... The truth is no-one takes those jobs because they don't pay anything.

The Republican Party is correct to say that market forces should set wages, not the government; therefore, the minimum wage is a bad idea... but then Bush, Hagel, etc. go and justify illegal immigration as a way of ensuring a low-wage work force!

Mind you, the Democrats are even worse... they push for a minimum wage, and then allow illlegal aliens to be brought in to work off the books...

Let market forces rule! IF employers can't find workers willing to work for $5.15 an hour, they should *gasp* pay more!

Of the Democrats who defeated Republicans in the recent elections, how many ran on open borders platforms and how many ran against illegal immigration?

Bet you don't answer the question because it would illuminate the vacuity of your analysis.

It was not an issue that Democrats campaigned on. The Democrats knew that their voters were not concerned at all by illegal immigration.

It is an issue like speeding in a car. Everyone does it. But in this election it is as if many far right candidates had called for the death penalty for speeding. If some Republicans campaigned on the death penalty for speeding, it would not be necessary for Democrats to favor speeding. In fact they would ignore the issue. The Republicans would have been doing all it takes to defeat themselves.

If you asked voters about speeding it would be a lot lower in the polls than illegal immigration.

It is the old rule.. When members of the far right are shooting themselves in the head with a 12 gage shot gun... it is not necessary for the Democrats to do anything except to show up at the Democratic headquarters to give their victory speech.

It was a stupid an appealing issue that some Republicans campaigned on and the voters gave the congress to the Democrats.

>> Even the Constitution is a compromise for goodness sake. <<

The 3/5ths compromise? The wake of that compromise was more war deaths than every other war combined in American history; millions held in slavery; festering civic wounds in American cities; the abolition of federalism; and, quite possibly, the extinction of the American state to the exploitative grievance industries known as MSM news and socialism.

What neither side seems to realizein this argument is that America changes immigrants. It changes their languages, the foods, and their attitudes.

The so-called Spanish word "Loisaida" exists no place in the word, except NYC.

2. Tancredo is not from Denver, but rather outside.

Nor is he from Miami. Which city should he be slamming?

The Tancredo`s of this world are very destructive people. Look what he has really accomplished which is a big fat nothing. If he really wanted what most of us want, he would have worked with the President to get something done. Now any real reform is over till maybe 2008. But what is not over is Tancredo riding this issue to his advantage.
Yeah, everything is Bush`s fault, that`s an easy answer for sure, but you might want to look at Mr. Tancredo`s motives.

Ok bill, you do realize, do you not, that MOST Americans, including most of us here, do NOT want what Bush wants on this issue. We DO want our borders effectively secured and we DO want our immigration laws enforced. Bush, does not. We do NOT want illegal aliens to be given 'earned' amnesty. Bush, does.

So if you are implying that Tancredo has been 'destructive', because his so-called 'motives' are to push for what MOST Americans want, WHY do you have a problem with that agenda, even if it is not what Bush wants? Think about it, maybe you ought to examine your own motives.

"And Reagan gave BLANKET AMNESTY to every single illegal."

Yeah, in 1986. Twenty years ago. It was a failure. So why does president Bush want to repeat the same known failure?

Still looks to me like Tancredo has overwhelming support on FreeRepublic outside a group of about thirty FReeper bots.

Has Tom Tancredo`s approach accomplished what you want? Pences plan could have passed if Tancredo would have supported it and it would have made a positive difference. But, if the goal was to NOT solve the problem, to use it as a stepping stone for personal political gain, well, compromise of any kind is out. As if any bill is without a compromise. And, what`s really neat from Tom`s position, is that he can always blame Bush.

Miami is like a third world country. Unfortunately, there are some truths that can no longer be spoken in American society.
