Card is an observant Mormon, so he's got good moral character. In addition, one thing i like about his fiction is how much respect he has for people's beliefs. While other writers in the genre act as if religion doesn't exist in the future, or make believers out to be twits or villains, he knows that faith is a vital element of the character, and he handles it with respect even if the character is of a different faith than his own.

Could not agree more. One of the things I liked about B-5 was they didn't.

Me too. I was surprised when I found out Stracynski was an atheist. The episode with the monk who had once been a serial killer was especially touching.

Wow, we both like B-5, OSC and Bloom County. Great minds...

The difference between Bloom County and Doonesbury is that one is funny and the other isn't. No need to tell you which is which, I'm sure.

Rosebud the Basselope, also a classic.

Which one should be impeached?

The answer is simple, Mr. Trudeau: The Republican.

Had Clinton done any of the things you claim Bush did, the Dems and their cohorts in media would be rallying around him in support.

Remember Clinton's war in Bosnia? Using the U.S. military to put Aristide in power in Haiti against the will of his people? Compiling FBI files in order to blackmail people? Using the courts to consolidate power in the hands of liberals? Pardoning cronies and wealthy criminals? Stealing classified documents? All justifiable in the Leftists' eyes.

But had President Bush even smiled at an intern in a flirtatious way, they would be calling for his head.

The difference is Trudeau wants to preach to us and Breathed wants to make us laugh at ourselves.

I was a HUGE Bill the Cat fan. I was always deeply moved by his love/lust for Jeanne Kirkpatrick.

I have a patch I picked up during my SAC days. It's the Sac shield, but instead of holding lightning the mailed fist is strangling Bill the Cat and the slogan at the bottom reads "All this, and money too."

This is one of the best columns Card has ever written. I almost want to thank Trudeau for this strip...because look what it caused!

Just wow.

Phoning it in is an understatement. It's not funny, it's not original, it's not interesting, it's not profound...and frankly it's not even that well drawn. I guess the best thing I could say is that He has the official Doonsbury style down to a science.

Please tell me this is an author that I can tell my son good things about.

He's a Mormon with an occasional weird streak (avoid Lost Boys) who nonetheless honors Jesus Christ in a hostile medium. His Christian characters are believable.

We've obviously talked to different troops. I think the lower number of casualties has a lot to do with our excellent medical personnel and the advanced treatment we have compared to previous conflicts.
