Because, according to previous Wa Po articles, the large (50,000+) Muslim population in northern VA came out in droves to vote against Allen as a proxy for Bush.

One man, one vote....

At vast number of the people will not take time to even find out who the Vice President is, or who the Secretary of State, SecDef, etc are....they would rather drink poison than to find out about their senator or congressman...and you get a Webb along with a bunch of crazy 'rats in charge.

If you don't believe it, tune in thursdays for Hannity's "man on the street" segment. It will chill you to the bone knowing that these people may be canceling out your vote.

Too bad for us.

Just look at the new voters in Northern Virginia, combine them with the bloc vote: Virginia never was extremely conservative. I think the 5-10% conservative advantage is being overwhelmed by demographics.

The same way my state elects Cantwell, Murray, Gregoire, McDermott, and a plethora of other Democrats - pure ignorance and idiocy. Hope that helps. :)

Good Question. Perhaps the first answer is to help your election officials clense the voter rolls of the posers and illegals and DEAD people. I understand from my former County Elections Officer that doing that job is the last one on the burner, as they are chronically understaffed, etc. Perhaps you and your local Republicans could set up VOLUNTEERS to help in this respect.

My personal belief is that COLLEGE students are voting both where they attend school, and by absentee ballot from their parents homes. I don't think anyone has worked this out nor a way to combat the double=voting that I am convinced many of them are doing. My biggest reason for this thought is the large increase in Democrat voters over the last 15 years, and most "students" are very Liberal. They are full of ideas until they get out into the world and have to do a job and get a real paycheck and pay their own bills. Until then, they tend to overwhelmingly vote Democrat.

It's pretty simple actually.

George Allen's campaign did this:
