The republic would seem to be in good health, if not sound mind, when hurt feelings and public embarrassment are the picadors of public passion. The past few weeks have provided a surfeit of sensitivity challenges: -- A group of ``lactivists'' staged a nurse-in to protest an airline's insensitivity to a breast-feeding mom. - Two African-American men hired a lawyer to sweeten an apology they're demanding from a racist, epithet-hurling comedian.

America's problem isn't racism or over-sensitivity...it is lack of character.

Feelings in this country are becoming more important than common sense. Liberalism is spreading.

I believe it was Dennis Prager who wrote that this country is not so much divided into liberals and conservatives, but rather "the easily insulted" and the "not-so-easily "insulted."

Food for thought, perhaps?

I see one thing that needs a correction here. Those two men didnt hire a lawyers , they hired Gloria Allred. She isnt a lawyer she is a publicity hog with some law experience.

Why not both? And more things?

Personally, probably the former in your comment. There seem to be many comments on FR (racist and otherwise) which should have been removed, but the moderators decided to keep them.

Then again, since the removed comments are removed, can't tell whether or not those would have been found offensive.

Better go back to medical school, Kathleen. It's a sure sign the nation is in it's final decline.

If these two gold diggers do get a settlement, I hope the line is long for those who will no doubt be demanding a cash settlement for the racist remarks these two have no doubt handed out liberaly.

Lactivists: It is their way of expressing themselves.
