The poll only reached people whose houses or apartments were in good enough shape to have a land-based phone, pollster Susan E. Howell of the University of New Orleans noted as she released the results Tuesday. "They are presumably not in trailers," she wrote.
And, since the university's Survey Research Center called 200 people in each parish, the margin of error was a hefty 7 percent in each that is, any figure could be as much as 7 percentage points too high or too low.
Howell reported that, even though Jefferson Parish's approval ratings were about equal to those before the hurricane hit on Aug. 29, 2005, 17 percent said they were very likely to leave within two years, and 15 said they were somewhat likely to do so, Howell reported.
The figures, adding up to about one-third of all people who answered, were the same in Orleans Parish, where approval ratings were even lower than they had been before Katrina hit.
A UNO poll in 2004 found that 59 percent of New Orleans residents described themselves as satisfied or very satisfied with life in the parish, compared to 89 percent in Jefferson Parish.

Sounds like a slow crime day in the Big Easy.
And my wife wanted to spend the weekend since we have Saints tickets this weekend.
I informed her we would be driving up for the game and leaving immediately after. The tickets are from my brothers season tickets. It is my plan not to spend one thin dime while I'm in NO.
Blanco's base is disappearing before our very eyes. Jindal will be the next Louisiana Governor, and the MoonMary Landreiu machine is on its way out. I think the GOP can pick up this seat in 2008.
I thought they liked crime. Why would they leave?
Hell, even if EVERYBODY left, the percentage turnout would still exceed 100%!
Can't stand to see the Saints winning?
Is that when FEMA/Welfare/Charity/Social Teet/give-A-ways run out?
A montage of worthless people, their hands always out to take from others. A sorry spectacle.
Isn't Liberalism/Socialism wonderful? The Liberal masters should be very proud.
Yeah, I see your point.
I guess if Huey and Uncle Earl are still casting ballots at election time, it makes sense that the RAT base will be voting in Louisiana no matter where they go.
I'll be surprised if some of those precincts, especially the deserted ones, don't come in with a 110% turnout.
nah I'm sure a good portion hated the crime, but didn't want to pull up roots & leave- being settled kinda makes you feel secure regardless & I think the storm mighta been the last straw for them- although I doubt 1/3 will actually move- I do htink a percentage just needed a final push to make the plunge and get out of the crime ridden areas http://sacredscoop.com
Anyone see any of the Comic Relief on HBO to raise money for the people of New Orleans? I saw Billy Crystal and it was shameful. I tried to call the number they gave just to waste their time and tell them I wouldn't be giving, but it was automated-I couldn't speak to a live person. :)
Guess I am just a cynic...
Sounds like a typical day in "Chocolate City."
That woman next to sign lady sure looks like beer man's wife???
What exactly does that woman want the government to do for her?
In fifteen years, the original sin city should be nothing but a bird sanctuary (God willing) and a footnote in history. It was a swamp to begin with, let it return to its origins.
Move the Saints to Cleveland (we need a real football team) and let the rest go back to nature.
It would take some level of motivation for these people to move even 10 miles.
They don't have it.
Everything.
