The state of California, in state buildings, had a policy (maybe still in force) that concession stands (snack bars, so forth), be run by blind operators. Many times, when in a state building, I'd purchase a package of M&Ms, or buy a soft drink, give the blind cashier my 20 (without telling him what it was), and he'd give me proper change. They always got it correct. For this judge to "determine" that the blind are incapable of telling the difference between bill denominations is absurd.

Judge: Make Bills Recognizable to Blind

I was hoping some judge was finally going to force our congresscritters to actually read every word of legislation before they pass it.

Of course, the result of having your money strictly on the basis of precious metals means that the money supply can only expand as more metals are discovered, mined, refined and minted. The effect is deflationary as products chase a limited amount of money, people who have money don't spend it (because they'll get more from a desperate seller tomorrow) and counterfeiting becomes more attractive.

So, what are they doing for blind, deaf, quadriplegics with no taste buds?

Maybe the Bureau of Printing and Engraving should embed a microchip so that the Presidents and other famous people on money could fart a distinctive tune. Washington could be "Yankee Doodle," Lincoln "The Battle Hymn of the Republic,' Jackson "The Battle of New Orleans," and Grant, "Whiskey for my Men and Beer for My Horses."

I do have a problem with the Treasury Department's currency policy. Other countries manage to incorporate Braille and anti-counterfeiting measures that are hard to defeat into their currency. We don't. Why? Because the Treasury Department requires all bills to pass a ridiculous test of surviving fifty-plus trips through a freakin' washing machine!

And out of that vehicle comes someone with no wheelchair, cane, walker, crutches, oxygen, or other evidence of disability, who then spends an hour ably walking around the store.

Those spots have just become perks for growing old, having no principles, and being a whiner with a wimpy doctor. I'd pay my share for government docs to set and enforce standards for such disability benefits.

Oh, and even if they are allowed to park closer their destination, why should they not have to pay the parking meter or obey time limits like the rest of us?

Simple. Each bill comes with a wafer-thin audio chip that announces what kind of denomination it is ("I'm a 20...I'm a 5...I'm a 10-spot."). As the legal requirements get more ridiculous, so will the solutions.
